I'll start off by saying I never review products. But the onkyo is a very nice system. I bought it because you can connect to the internet and stream music in and its simple to do and everything is easy to navigate through your tv. Im decently tech savvy but had a hard time setting up the system initally but once it was done its simple to use and the universal remote is easy to program so you dont need to buy another programmable remote. Also multiroom capability is nice as i have speakers on my patio and everything works great. It has more then enough hdmi inputs if you needed more you wouldnt be buying this unit, I cant say i have used the system to its fullest potential as of yet but im impressed and have always bought onkyos in the past and this is something i would recommend.

I didn't notice any difference in the HD picture by using the HDMI on the receiver. However, there was a better, brighter picture on SD ( standard definition)picture.If you watch a lot of old showsI recommend going thru the receiver. [...]

Excellent Receiver! Audio setup couldn't be easier with the automatic audio tune feature. Plenty of power, also allows for 1080P pass through for Direct TV receivers. Does run a little hot, but that is normal for all Onkyo receivers. The firmware updated without a hitch and the internet radio function works like a charm. If you have sirius satellite radio, you don't need a separate receiver to access the internet radio. Buy this, you won't be disappointed!

Up grade from Onkyo 605.

Home theater setup Polk audio front monitor 70 center cs2 surround and back monitor 40 on stands, 2 psw125 subs.

The 807 drives these speakers to impressive clean volume levels with thunderous bass, where the 605 was straining. The largest difference was on music.

The remote is much better than the one provided with the 605. hdmi inputs are marked so if you follow the marking, setup is much easier.

Yes this receiver runs very warm just like all of the high power ones.

I recently moved into a new house and decided I was going to revamp my A/V System. It started with a 58" Panasonic Plasma and moved to the Onkyo 807 head unit. I have all Polk Audio speakers connected to this system. Once you run the automated setup that requires you to move a special microphone around the room for fine tuning, this amplifier delivers the mail! It has no problems keeping up with whatever I throw at it. The s/n ratio is excellent.

The only complaint I have is it's ability to quickly change sources and sound fields. Even changing channels through cable TV sometimes throws the receiver into a 5-8 second decision process to decide what sound field to use given the audio source.

This receiver is everything I've been waiting to add to my Home Theater system. The set up was straight forward with good on-screen instructions. The power is plentiful in a 7.1 setup with Polk speakers. Sound is crisp and clear. The Ethernet connectivity to internet radio and my home network works well.

The only minor con I can say is that the on-screen menu system is rather plain. Don't get me wrong, it's completely functional and easy to use, but jazzing up the graphics a bit, similar to Tivo, would be an improvement.

I definitely recommend this receiver.
