Great system for a mid price range. The sound is awesome if you have your speakers set right. If you need more than 2 HDMI hookups upgrade to the 810.

Its a great system for the price. The Theater-sync feature is a waste unless you bought a new Bravia TV and DVD player at the same time. I bought an LCD TV and DVD player last Feb '07 and Sony says neither have the required HDMI switch required for the "Sync" Process to work. Anyway, great system for the price.

The manual needs to be read about three times to grasp all of the details. I have heard others say the same about Sony manuals. Heed the warning.

This receiver does a nice job of amplifying the sound from a Blu-Ray Disk player or from a cable TV box. It can serve as a system controller only if all components are connected to the receiver via HDMI cable. When I connected my cable box to the receiver with component video cables plus a coaxial audio cable, I could not get a picture out of the unit. Also, this receiver does not have a phone input, which is a real disadvantage to someone like me who still has a couple of hundred LPs.
