get manual on line, you will need it. I had to assign sound from computer line in to the HDMI 3 Computer video signal. easy with manual hard without. nice job upscaling amazing unit for the money. can't figure out how to assign the PS3 to the remote. Doesn't really explain which buttons are assigned.

It was a bit of a chore figuring out why the product kept default to stereo LPCM for my blu-rays and game systems - I needed to adjust a setting rather well hidden the the receivers HDMI menu to get the system to decode the DTS-HD signals. This was pretty a much a discovery from trial and error - had this solution was listed nowhere in the manual that I could find. However, now that it's all set-up I'm quite happy with the purchase consider the [$] I spent on it.

Part of my home theater system - great sound, wish it had a 2nd room option for speaker other than the Air system

The first unit was replaced due to some issues with the HDMI inputs and the new unit is fine.
The addition of a button to open and close the Blu-Ray would be welcome. This would eliminate the need to use two remotes.

The first STRD 810 had a glitch in it that had a random black out on the screen when played thru the receiver, After two weeks it was exchanged for another one and has been fine since. The return was done with no questions asked by ABT.
When using for music only I turned off the auto shutdown feature to avoid having the TV on just for music.

Comments about Sony Sony 7.1 Channel Blu-Ray Disc A/V Receiver:
Purchased Sony again since my previous receiver was Sony that lasted & performed well. Although this model has good power output, the available functions are much fewer. After all these years Sony went backwards.
Price vs power is good, but not having variety of functions is dissappointing. Very limited ability to manaully set up sound preferences. Really dissappointing for a music enthusiast.
Set up instructions are via drawings with little documentation, leaving much to trial and error. Could be much, much better.
Rear panel hook ups variety/option are good, but w/o sound control features these do not matter much.
Many functions can only be accessed on remote. Appears Sony wanted to save $'s on unit switches and controls.
I was pressed for time since the old unit was fading fast (after 12 years) so I bought this as an assumed safe path. If I had it to do over again, I would have paid more for a more versatile system.

Very simple setup, full featured, lots of hook-up options, sounds great for a small-mid home theater setup. I wish it had the blue light indicator for digital 5.1/7.1 dts signals like the upscale models have.
Fast shipment, well packed, no complaints whatsoever.

Only one problem which is probably the fault of the computer it is connected to: when coming back out of standby, it does not always re-establish HDMI connections properly. More likely this is a problem with Vista and the video card driver.
