Loading very simple, have sixty CD's loaded so far. Learning to do the spreadsheet. Have to locate about a 100 more CD's. Sound system was absent for a good period of time. I mostly use the random. As one reviewer mentioned if you doze off you might be awakened abruptley.

The PD-F1009 has been a favorite for years. Far easier to use than the Sony. I have them installed commercialy and in continous use for over 7 years. Trouble free CD changer.

Comments about Pioneer Pioneer 301 Disc CD Player:

I bought this to replace my Sony CDP-CX355 300 disc changer which would scratch my cd's. The Sony was more user friendly in that you could connect a keyboard and input the cd title. With the Pioneer, they apparently thought that this was not a feature that you might use in a machine that holds 400 cd's. I will say that my memory is getting a workout trying to place each band and title. I do miss being able to skip to the next random song. This unit makes you stop the random and then start it back up to skip a song.

Comments about Pioneer Pioneer 301 Disc CD Player:

I'm glad I took the advice of the other reviewer of this product. I took the time to put all my CDs titles on an Excel spreadsheet(and no, there is no integration of Excel with the CD player). Having that list allows you to find a particular item and to choose what are on your five custom formats. I don't find that movement of the CD case is at all loud, just what I assumed would be a necessary sound. I love this and glad I used my Christmas money to purchase it. I would recommend to anyone using this to take out the papers from the cd cases, rubber-band them and store them, just in case you want to get the CD away. It's easy to get more jewel cases, but having the album covers and stuff inside (like LYRICS) are good to keep and take minimal room. Only warning about the RANDOM feature. If you are like me and have many tastes in music, RANDOM can be a real shocker. I had a soft Mozart track playing so I turned up the volume. The next track the RANDOM feature chose was a Christian's hyped-up rap song and I kinda came out of my chair. LOL But you will really like this piece of equipment. Oh, and ABT is a really awesome company to buy from. This was my first purchase and based on the [...] product I WILL buy from this company again...DEFINITELY.

Comments about Pioneer Pioneer 301 Disc CD Player:

Made my decision on this product based on other reviews. Set aside several hours to load our 250+ CDs and programmed each into one of five available "modes." Simply entered each CD title and artist into an Excel spreadsheet and then sorted by Artist, CD number and mode. If you don't mind investing the initial setup time, you will be very pleased. Made sure I leveled the unit after it was loaded with spacers under the legs. I encourage you to take this step. No more unsightly CD cases laying around anymore either!
