I gave an S5 to my father in law. He had it set up and was controlling the stream of his favorite music via his iPhone in about 10 minutes.
He placed it in a much bigger room than I would have thought possible - probably 30 x 20 feet with 10' high ceilings. It really sounds great. Unbelievable!
My mother in law is also very pleased as she both enjoys the music and the S5 looks nice (small) on their bookshelf.
An excellent sounding and performing product.

I used to listen music using my hi-fi system.
It is tube amp and big floor speakers.
I wouldn't compare its sound quality; it's not fair.
10K vs. .5K ??? come on...
But the point is,
you can listen the music all the time.
As you getting up, going to bed, all the time.
It generously fills my room with acceptable sound.
Sometimes, it impress me as well.
The bottom line is,
If you want to listen to music not "SOUND" then
GO FOR IT.

True to its reputation, the Sonos system was a snap to set up. If you already have a Sonos system, you push two buttons and it joins the Sonos network. If not, the installation CD will have your S5 up and running in less than 15 minutes.
The S5 is a great Sonos option for a room without amplified speakers, or for a system you would like to move from location to location.
I am very happy with the sound quality from both internet sources and music saved on my computer.

I bought this as a Christmas gift to my husband! We've had the Bose (2X) and they just didn't work well. I love how your Iphone can control the playlist. We have 4 Iphones and the kids can use their own playlist. No need to be near the speaker. They can control it from their own room.

I came across Sonos while researching whole house music options at CNET. I am building a house and choose Sonos as the best and most flexible choice for our family's needs. I have tested and used the zone player 120 (with in-ceiling speakers not yet in the ceiling) and the S5. I don't know what audiophile quality sounds like but I do believe that the sound that I have heard from the zone player and S5 is great, solid sound. On top of the great sound is an easy set-up, intuitive and effortless control via the controller 200 and listening options that will blow your mind. The S5 is a good option for a single room, shelf system or a portable option. Sonos reminds me of Apple; they keep getting it right.

The Sonos S5 does exactly as advertised. Quick easy setup, great sound (similar to Bose SoundDocks), and great ability to listen to LastFM, Pandora, your own music collection, and paid services like Rhapsody, Napster and Sirius. My wife wanted something simple (she is no techie) and she can run it easily and loves it!
