Comments about Denon Denon 12 Channel A/V Home Theater Pre-Amplifier With Network Streaming And Wi-Fi:
I fell in love with Denon's previous theatre pre-amp, the AVP-8000. That piece served me extraordinarily well for the better part of two decades. Its sound and build quality had no peer, over-engineered in every respect. It is amazing that Denon hadn't manufactured another reference theatre pre-amp since the 8000. I guess they didn't really need to until now with the HD audio and video formats. If you came to browse this model, you likely have an idea what A1HDCI is about. After owning it for 2 years now, I can say that it is pinnacle reference gear. The audio and video quality will simply astound you. As much of a leap ahead the 8000 model was in the mid-90's, the A1HDCI takes every aspect another leap forward.A few items worthy of note (funny that the same comments were applicable to the old 8000): This item is very expensive, particularly if you are mating it with high quality amplifiers. From the moment you open the box (heavier than many power amps!) through final setup, you'll know that it's worth its price. [...] Unless you have an armada of power amplifiers you truly love (as I already did), I would recommend going with the 5308 receiver and save thousands of dollars; it is also truly remarkable.Setup is not for the feint of heart, particularly for the internet. The manual is not intuitively organized. Be prepared to spend time learning about the guts of this thing, believe me, it will be worth it once things are set up. Denon has done it again. I look forward to having this unit rock my world for another decade, or more hopefully.
