Comments about Hammacher Schlemmer Hammacher Schlemmer Smallest Portable Turntable:
The description doesn't tell you that it is a crosley cr40 record player and that it plays 7, 10, and 12 inch records. The product plays well, but the full volume could be louder. You have to be delicate with it, because the needle handle is a little flimsy.

Comments about Hammacher Schlemmer Hammacher Schlemmer Smallest Portable Turntable:
I figured I'd review the "Hammacher Schlemmer Smallest Portable Turntable" since I couldn't find any online reviews before purchasing. After discovering my Philco portable turntable was broken I scoured the Internet for a replacement. My major requirements were size and speed selection. In terms of size, I was looking for a turntable that would fit on my new (and small) bookshelf. Most portables I found were just a hair too big, but the "smallest portable turntable" measured up to its name. The size does not deter from its quality, as the turntable is sturdy at eight pounds (with metal snaps on each end) and a diamond stylus (more trustworthy than a needle). As for speed, I was in the market for a turntable that plays 78s in addition to LPs and 45s. This isn't uncommon in portables, but some turntables surprisingly have only two speeds. Its sound quality is on par with my Philco, which I have no complaints about for my personal use. An added bonus, that was not mentioned in the product features, is a headphone output on the back of the turntable. My only complaint is that when you turn the turntable on, with no record yet playing, it picks up a faint FM radio signal. It's not loud, but it's definitely audible. It goes away when a record's playing, but is still bizarre. Overall, a quality turntable for the size.
ABT shipped quite promptly, with the turntable arriving in two days with FREE shipping! Additionally, they double boxed the turntable, which was reassuring upon opening, seeing how snug the factory box held the turntable. Great packing and shipping!
