We have a cast iron sink and with it the disposal is very quiet. It might be a little noisier with a plastic or stainless sink, as with all disposals.

I LIKE HOW ITS MADE SLIM .IT DOESNT TAKE UP ALL YOUR UNDER COUNTER SPACE LIKE THE ONES I SAW OUT AT HARDWARE STORES.ITS QUIET AS FAR AS DISPOSALS GO.

I purchased the GE GFC520 to replace a larger GE unit that lost a chopper blade. The GFC520 is a lower capacity (smaller chopping chamber) so takes up less space under the sink. It is also quieter than the larger GE model it replaced.
It was easy to install, but I had to purchase plumbers putty. It would be easier if a small quantity of putty was included in the package.

perfect replacement for sinkmaster 291, easy install,good directions, wish it came with a cord and plug,it would have been a quicker install.
works great. plummers putty was used instead of the rubber gasket.After old unit removed it took me 1 1/2 hour taking my time to install.I am not a plummer and it seemed easy.
