A good unit that's easy to install. Just took some plumber's putty and 30-40 minutes. It wasn't as quiet as I was led to believe from other reviews. But the case and interior unit are solid. Much better materials and construction that the badger unit I was replacing. The unit looks and feels durable. ABT saved $20+ over the next on-line retailer and no tax [...]. Definitely recommend the disposal [...].

Replaced old disposal with this KitchenAid. I'm very happy with the purchase. It is quiet and works very well. No problems so far, but I haven't had it for very long yet.
It is quite a bit larger than our old unit, and the installer had to rework all the plumbing under the sink (additional $49).
Very costly installation but worth it.
Very professional installation. Living in Chicago we have a grease trap under the sink, but that was not problem. They did have to replace the pluming under the sink which cost an extra $49 on top of the already expensive installation charge.

In our second home we constantly had clogging problems with another disposer, which we stopped using until we decided it was time to install this product. This is a replacement for a Kitchenaid disposer that we had for 20 years which we used hard. We don't have garbage service because our disposer takes care of the food scraps and we burn our paper trash and then recycle all of the rest(plastic, metal cans and glass) and we have a septic tank which we cleaned out one time in 34 years. This replacement disposer installed without any alternations. All pipes and wiring matched perfectly. Even if we get half the service out of this one as the first one I will be completely satisfied. I'm 69 years old and my wife and I installed it without any problems.

Glad I purchased the larger 3/4 hp disposal as a replacement. This is solid stainless steel, not galvanized. It's definitely a two person job to install since it's very heavy. Proper positioning of the locking ring is critical to align the plumbing connections. The install instructions made no mention of this.

Wow! Couldn't be happier with my new garbage disposal[...] First time installing a garbage disposal, and things went very smoothly. KichenAid has very clear and straight forward installation instructions. The only thing I'd recommend is having KitchenAid include a power cable. Nothing a quick trip to[...] won't solve. Whole install took less than 30 minutes from start to finish.

And it had similar ourlet positions to the Insinkerator I replaced minimizing the plumbing install...had a bit of flexibility in the outlet pipe which helped to accomodate a 1/4" mismatch to existing plumbing.

This was my first garbage disposal install/replacement so I conducted a little research before getting started to ensure I didn't encounter any surprises.
I wasn't quite sure how easily the old one would come off, but it's actually very simple. I live in California so it's code to have 120 AC plug vs hard-wired. I reused the old plug as it was in good condition.
I was concerned about the noise and thought 3/4 hp would be too much (power and size) since I have a small kitchen and was replacing a 1/2 hp model that worked well enough. This KitchenAid disposal is very quiet; it emits a quiet, high-pitched hum when it's on and nothing inside but running water . In truth, I haven't had the opportunity to grind anything significant as I'm in the middle of a remodel, but I'm sure it will be a little louder when griding food. The unit I replaced was loud even when running with nothing inside so I feel I'm way ahead of the game with this disposal.
I felt the printed directions were very good and self-explanatory. The only additional items that I purchased were plumber's putty for the sink flange and a short length of rubber tube for the dishwasher drain that looked as if it should be replaced.

Very easy installation but had to take step back when time to install drain pipe.. good thing I had purchased pipe kit prior to installation.. I try potato, cabbage, etc.. but no clogging. it's powerful and very quiet.

Easy to install, and we were surprised at how powerful and quiet it runs under a load. Count on
a little extra rework of the ABS to make it fit
if you're upgrading from say a 1/2 hp unit. I needed to spend $10 for ABS parts and glue from the hardware store.

i found lots of good reviews on KitchenAid Disposals. So i looked for a mid range horsepower one like the 5\8HP Disposal, but its discontinue.
So it was between the 1/2hp or the 3/4hp. i got the 3/4hp its a little too big in size for my cabinet space under my sink and is a little heavy.
The sink had never had a Disposal installed so i had to cut the sink drain out with a sawzall and install power and a switch as well.
Having a new tile back splash that i didn't want to cut in to that. So i found the vacuum switch, but it cost 60$ and the power cord kit cost me another 12 bucks. all the extras cost me about 100$ on top of the disposal.
Delivery was in a couple of days. The disposal was packed well inside another box and have everything that was included with it.
i had no problems.

90% of the install is well-documented in the instructions, but the 1 thing that isn't added about an hour to my install time and ultimately led to me improvising a solution.
The instructions included in the package don't detail how the rubber sink baffle is supposed to fit into the installation. I tried several methods, completely taking apart the installation three times to try and try again, and it seemed not to fit in any of the ways I tried. Ultimately I took the one off the Badger unit I was replacing and put it on this KitchenAid. Fortunately it fit, and the seal looks like it will be fine. I hope so, anyway. The instructions call the Sink Baffle item "C," and show it lined up with the other drain pieces but don't mention how it's supposed to fit. Every way I tried, it created too much thickness and made it impossible to get the disposal unit attached. More clear instructions would definitely be helpful.
Other than that, it is fairly quiet although I think the people who claim it's so quiet they've accidentally left it on either live in a really noisy house or are going deaf. It's a little quieter than my previous Badger 5, but not silent and I don't think there's any danger of me accidentally leaving it on.

This disposal was installed by my son in about an hour. When I read all the reviews, I mentioned to an appliance store that many could not believe how quiet it was. He did not think they were correct in saying that. Well he was wrong. This disposal is so quiet that you can hardly hear that it is running. I double check to see if I turned it off for this reason. The only con is that a pipe leading from the disposal is made of plastic. My son was concerned that it might wear out sooner. He wanted to buy a stronger pipe at OSH, but then noticed that the plastic pipe was attached to plastic. Thus, we decided to leave it as purchased. I have always purchased GE disposals in the past. Since my entire kitchen and many small electrical are GE, I was making a major change in my life. I decided on Kitchen Aid after reading the reviews. Even the appliance store said that Kitchen Aid was the better one. I am glad that I switched to Kitchen Aid. I love the quiet running sound.

The Snap Ring is difficult to install. Use a 5/16 wide stick to spread the ring, then snap in place. The disposer is too heavy to hold near the sink while engaging and turning the Lower Mounting Ring. Use a small hydraulic bottle jack to lift the disposer up against the Sink Flange.

I replaced a two year old one h.p. Waste King with this. The KitchenAid disposal is far superior to the Waste King. The KitchenAid is far quieter and cleans itself very well (I had to clean out the Waste King with a brush weekly). The Kitchen aid includes a metal sleeve. The Waste King has a plastic sleeve which cracks over a short amount of use. The KitchenAid is the right choice.

I replaced a 9 year old 1/4 HP Kitchenaide disposal with this 1/2 HP unit. It is very quiet and runs smoothly, a vast improvement over the previous model. Installation instructions were very good and it took 1 hour to install. Only difficult part was holding it up while I locked it in place. I propped the disposal up by placing books underneath it and then put my right hand under it to lift it into position and then lock it in place with my left hand. The disposal is a tremendous value given I could not find another store selling it under list price...thank you Abt!
Delivery was prompt and the unit arrived by Abt truck as promised...and delivery was free!

Replaced an old, identical disposer, which stopped working after 8 years.
All-in-all, a great product.
Installation comment:
DOUBLE-CHECK that there's a clear passage for the water through all inlets.
The manufacturer forgot to take out an internal cap which prevented dishwasher drainage. This resulted in the flooding of my kitchen. The installer cleared the internal cap and now it's perfect.
Excellent service by Abt.
The LOWEST price I was able to find, and trust me - I searched hard...
Abt is now on the top of my search list !

We love this disposal and would recommend it to anybody. It is VERY quiet. My wife left it running once because she didn't realize it was on. It seems to be very powerful and works great.Installation was easy and straight forward. I replaced a much smaller disposal of a different brand. I had to change the connections to the bottom of the sink which was easy. After hanging the new unit the drain and dishwasher connections were easy to connect and everything fit perfectly. You need to attached a power cord to this unit. I re-used the cord from the old unit.This unit is branded KitchenAid but it is manufactured by InSinkErator. It appears to be similar (or identical) to their "Evolution Essential" model. My local [...] have many InSinkErator parts that fit this unit if you want to replace the rubber drain cover, the stopper, add a sink switch, etc.
