The idea of a wireless grill thermometer thrills both the griller and the geek in me. I was excited to give it a try. Unfortunately, I had a couple of issues with the product. When it didn't work properly, I called Weber support who promptly replaced the temperature probe. Everything worked fine for a while, but then the transmitter went out. Once again, Weber was flawless in their support and replaced the entire unit. I've used it a few times and am hooked. However, I am a little skeptical of the quality/durability of the unit (or perhaps I just got the "one" lemon). I don't regret purchasing, but am not sold until I use it a little longer.

I used this product Christmas day (2009) to cook 2 pork loins. I love it with the exception of one thing. You have to choose a meat type. (Beef, pork, fish...). I pull my meat off the smoker at certain temps. I would have like to (and thought I could) set my own temperature for the alarm to sound to let me know when to pull it. I chose 'Fish' because I pull my pork loin at 160 and that was the 'done' temp for fish according to the Weber thermometer. I wanted to be notified when the temp was 155 and this accomplished that. Other than that, it's perfect.

When cover of grille is closed temperature probe no longer measures meat temperature but picks up heat from gr!ille rendering product virtually useless!

The user selects the type of meat and may then select from preset temps based on rare, medium rare, medium, or well done. The remote clip signals 5 degrees before the selected temperature is reached.

My wife was always complaining that I burned everything I cooked on the grill. She said that I did not pay enough attention that I was always walking away from the grill and doing other things. She said that if I couldn't cook the meat on the grill without burning it that she would do it. I had to act fast. I ordered the Weber thermometer. It arrived in just a few days. I couldn't wait to try it out.
I am now the Grill God! I haven't burned a meal since. This thing is amazing. Now I can walk away from the grill and take the remote monitor with me. It beeps when the food is within 5 degrees of the target temperature. This gives me time to get back to the grill and wait for it to reach the target temperature.
I have cooked steak, hamburger and pork to perfection. We never have to worry that the meat may be undercooked. It turns out perfect every time. I highly recommend this device to any backyard cook.
It has given me peace of mind. Not only do I know the food is safe to eat, I know I am going to have an enjoyable delicious dinner with my wife.

The pairing function to get the probe to readout over the radio control was a little awkward, but not bad. The real problem is that you have remove the probe, flip whatever it is you are cooking and reinsert the probe, thus putting two deep holes in your food. Recommend only putting in the probe after the last flip.

It is very easy to use and works as described. The only thing that it won't do is work with the rotisserie which is one of the prime reasons to have one. But it is nice to slide it in a piece of chicken and leave with your remote to watch the game and not have to worry. I would definately recommend it to anyone.

I've been using an electronic monitor for roasts and bread in the oven with good success. Tried several designed for the grill and never got more than 1 or 2 uses before the cord to the probe burned out ,,, and that's on a weber propane grill with no flames exposed. This product seems to have a much more heavy duty cord. No problems after a couple of uses. Having to hit the reset buttons on the transmitter and receiver on first use was the only annoyance ,,, but then I didn't buy the product for its remote capabilities.
