Comments about Sony Sony HD Table Radio:

Wasn't really sure about the HD features of this radio. I should have read some reviews of this unit before I purchased. It seems the HD portion is on the AM dial not the FM. I have yet to find any HD stations. Could be my location, and I have not attached the AM antenna yet. Overall, this is a nice small radio. It looks very nice on my Office Desk.

I use it on my sailboat that I live on. Both FM and AM reception are great. Would be better if there was a mute button on the remote. The wood finish fits in well with the boats teak.

Almost great
By AndyVerified Purchaser from Reston, VA on 5/29/2008

Accurate Controls, Clear adjustable display, Clear Signal, Easy To Set Up, Good Sound, Quality Construction
Cons:
No battery backup, Noisy fan AC adapter, Only one color available
Best Uses:
Basic Systems
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Sony Sony HD Table Radio:

Tunes easily, nice sound, good controls. I would have liked an bass/treble knob rather than clicking through a digital menu. I do like the adjustable blue backlit LED with 3 brightness levels.
Good value if compared to Bose tabletop system. Could be a superb high-end clock radio if you don't mind its shortcomings...

Problems: it doesn't retain presets or custom settings after a brief power outage. This means having to constantly reprogram all 20+ presets. The result is that I don't feel like using it much anymore. Also, the unit generates *unwanted* sound, including an AC adapter brick that "hums" and an internal cooling fan which is not pleasant to listen to when the unit is playing at low volume.

Good sounding hd tabletop radio
By Maureen the music loverVerified Purchaser from St. Louis, MO on 5/2/2008
Pros:
Easy To Set Up, Good Sound
Best Uses:
Smaller Rooms
Describe Yourself:
Technically Challenged
Bottom Line:

Comments about Sony Sony HD Table Radio:

Great to have the better sound especially on stations that are in hd and have few/no ads.
Beware that the energy friendly sprial light bulbs will make listening to am impossible. The static is so bad that you will change over to fm.
I agree with the reviewers who complain about the amount of light coming from the display. It's particularly annoying for a bedroom.

Comments about Sony Sony HD Table Radio:

I manage an public radio station that broadcasts in HD and purchased this SONY unit to evaluate as a possible thank you gift for membership donations.

Pros: High quality sound; very readable display panel for program data; high build quality; locks in signal very well. Features a "surround" setting that enhances the stereo separation nicely without an unnatural effect.

Cons: It's the one missing thing – no "mute" button on otherwise feature packed remote. Strange. External power brick somewhat bulky but okay.

Notes: The bottom of the unit has a small cooling fan that only operates when the unit is on. It is inaudible in use. Comes with two types of FM antennas – straight line and "T" type ("T" type is much better). Also, it includes an 1/8" patch cable for your iPod or mp3 player to use the line input and a 1/8" headphone jack that is on the back. One quibble: It would be nice if SONY threw in 2 AAA batteries for the remote.

Conclusion: We will indeed purchase a quantity of these units as a pledge item as it is a quality unit with very good good sound and features

Service & Delivery comments:

This is the 2nd unit I purchased. I gave one to my parents for Christmas. They have used it way more than I thought they ever would. The sound is great and it reallys fills the room. It picks up weak stations that other radios cannot pick up. It is really a very nice unit!

RAN TO BUY A 2nd SONY HD TABLE RADIO

Comments about Sony Sony HD Table Radio:

I bought the HD radio for my office to listen to throughout the day when at my desk. I loved the radio so much when it arrived (at my home on a Friday evening) that I hated to take it out of the house on Monday Morning. I did, and loved it at the office too. I immediately ordered another for home.
The sound is great for a small table top radio. It is exquisitely designed. Beautiful for all decors (classic transitional style). The controls are easy to use (traditional tuning on the radio itself) as well as a more modern remote control. For the most part the best of both. I must admit though (and this may have more to do with the antenna and the HD station itself, but the HD station I listen to (and bought the radio for in the first place) occasionally fades in and out throught the day. This happens both at home and in the office. I have set up the antena at a window in each case and honestly don't know what else I can do to prevent this. The surround sound option puts the sound at high quality level by the way. In all, I believe that you get lots of value for the cost of this great radio. Hats off once again to SONY for a great product! (I have always been happy with any product I have owned by this company incidentally, which is lots more than I can say for most of the others)

Cons:
Fan Noise

Comments about Sony Sony HD Table Radio:

Everything about this unit is great with the exception of the noisey computer fan module unit. The fan noise over powers the music when listening at a low volume. I plan to exchange the unit. Hopefully the next unit fan will be much quiter.
