Comments about KitchenAid KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

I bought this to grind my own hamburger after repeatedly getting "awful" ground beef (even ground sirloin) at the market. Now I know what is going into the mix. Grinding just once is enough, twice makes the hamburger too "mushy" so I am really pleased with the fine grind plate. It never bound up nor did it give an uneven result. Plenty of power too using my KitchenAid Mixer and so simple to attach/detach and clean.

Comments about KitchenAid KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

Works good. Double ground a side of venison. Took me 6 hours, but worked as expected. Bit of work to get it clean. Had to repeatedly soak and scrape with a chopstick. There were some instances where a bit of meat came through that was discolored. It had the color of the metal parts on the inside of the body. I picked those out and the hamburger hasn't killed me nor does it taste bad, so that is not a big deal. Cheaper than the alternatives, so all is good.

Cons:

Comments about KitchenAid KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

...you will be disappointed - it is just a grinder. The grinder works as expected with no problems the few times we have run it thus far. The horsepower of the KitchenAid mixer does all of the work with noproblems.

I dinged it for cleaning because it is sometimes difficult to get to the far end of the grinder with my big hands. A tool helps.

Also had some of the lubricant (food grade) get in a batch, but just a small amount.

Be sure you don't lose the small cutting blade. I did, a few years ago, and it was quite expensive to replace. Also, don't screw the thing into your mixer too tightly or the metal will split. That is why I had to get a new one.
It is great to use and does a great job of grinding!

Comments about KitchenAid KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

I use it to grind up meat for hamburger. I buy the cheap steak and grind up for hamburger. It's nice to know what gets ground up instead of buying it at the store and hoping they didn't throw some garbage in there. Never a slow down or any problems. I use it with my KitchenAid Pro mixer. I had some worries about the grinder housing being plastic but I don't think that will be a problem. It's tough material. It is also easy to clean.

Comments about KitchenAid KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

I used the grinder with cut up chicken breasts (partially frozen) so that I could then use my jerky gun to lay pieces out on my dehydrator rack. I figured it would make great snacks for my dogs. When the meat got stuck coming out I would have to pull off the metal screen and scrape everything off. Haven't tried anything other than chicken so far, but I will try other types of meat.

Comments about KitchenAid KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

We bought the grinder attachment to make sausage from elk meat. The grinder attachment works well thanks to the power of the mixer, but is very hard on the motor. The grinder also clogs up frequently, making it frustrating to try to grind large quantities of meat. If you're just looking to make a batch of burgers, this would probably suit your needs. If you need a workhorse grinder, or grind more than a couple pounds of meat at a time more than a couple times a month, invest in either a heavy duty electric or hand crank grinder.

Trying to make sausage with the attachments is particularly frustrating. Make sure your meat is VERY cold - almost frozen meat seemed to grind much easier, and stuffed easier into the casings.

Comments about KitchenAid KitchenAid Food Grinder Attachment:

While we admitedly use this grinder for two purposes only, hamburger and sausage. I cannot see any cook dissatisfied with this grinder attachment. You will need to read the instructions as for the size of the meat chunks you will use to grind, otherwise you will create problems. The unit was a tad on the difficult side to attach,( you need to line up the unit a specific way to attach correctly.)Once set up correctly, this grinder was flawless. My husband and myself have ground over 40 lbs of venison at a sitting without one problem.
