I was disappointed that the motor stopped working after just using it 3 times. None of which were especially hard on the blender. But Breville customer service was friendly and easy to engage. I was sent a new one very quickly, no hassles. Has been OK, but ice is not like 'shaved ice', it is still a bit rough. Puree is not quite as good as i wanted (I expected it to do better than my $80 blender, but it's the same). I will propbably not buy this brand (for a blender) again. Already looking for a new one.

I have used the appliance for smoothies so far and, compared to the old style blenders, this appliance is terrific in making these drinks. It even seems that the flavor is more evident. Just turn off the machine when the consistency is right; otherwise, it may overdo on its job.

i use this product in the kitchen a lot to make different sauces and soup preparations, i can't think of a better tool.

i was a bartender for many years, i used to dream of someday owening a beautiful blender, my dreams were short, i could not imagine that i would have such machine.

the control pad provides sensational help in controling the machine to a point that you can't take credit for the end result (good thing machines don't talk.)

there is something that is not so great about this blender: it will take too long before the need for the next machine.

I wanted to get more fruits and veggies into my diet. I decided to start making smoothies instead of juicing. I used the machine almost daily for 6 weeks and it worked very well. I made smoothies with kale, carrots, apples, mangos, blue berries...you name it. The problem with the blender is you have to have a muscle man with strong arms and hands to tighten the blade attachment or the blender will leak. You can only get the seal tight by using the little tool they give you. This tool is only supposed to be used to loosen the blade housing not tighten it. I don't have a muscle man on call and I got tired of wrestling with the darn thing. Back it goes!

I've probably owned 10 blenders in my lifetime -- and all suffered from similar problems. The motors burn out when tasked with crushing ice, the pitcher is too small for making drinks for a larger crowd, replacement parts (and pitchers) are impossible to find, and the pitcher frequently leaks over time due to a poorly sealed base and/or cracks in a inferior pitcher.

In contrast, this is a heavy duty blender that looks great, wears well and has handled any kitchen task. We ordered an extra pitcher, which has proved invaluable for multi-tasking. The blender is extremely easy to clean and everything about it is built to last.

LOVE that the lid stays on all by itself while blending. The rubber material with ridges is the key. It allows you to get other things done while waiting for your drink or food to blend. Also love that it shuts off automatically after 60 seconds.

This blender has exceeded our expectations. The only drawback is that it is very important to have the lid completely on before starting it, and the lid can be a little difficult to fully engage.

I use this blender to make protein shakes mostly. Now, I'm enjoying shakes with finely chopped frozen fruits that the other belnder (kitchen aide) would miss. It's also rather quite. The only issue I had was that I did not tighten the bottom enough to prevent it from loosening more until it started leaking over the base. I've used it many times since then with no more mishaps! I don't think there are any blenders that are better for the money.

I use the blender for pureeing bases for soups and sauces and for drinks. It works so fast and complete, you must be careful not to over do it. Unless you want dry ingredients to be very fine and well blended, do not use it for nuts for cookies, etc.

I use my blender to make a fruit smoothie every morning. The good news: it does a great job of liquifying the fruit (I don't use the "smoothie" function, which makes my smoothie more lumpy). The bad news: you have to take apart the blender pitcher every time when you wash it. The good news on that: it's pretty easy to take apart and then reassemble later. Also, I selected this blender in part because I wanted to be able to use frozen fruit (unthawed) in my smoothies. It got rave reviews for its powerful 750W motor. But alas, I learned that it is not recommended to use frozen fruit in it. Oh well...

I use this product mostly to puree veggies to make soups and juices, and of course for smoothies. It does an excellent job with everything I put in it. The built-in timers are pretty sophisticated, alternating speed and cycles during a 1 minute period. The construction quality and design are excellent -- solid, sturdy, with a cool industrial look. I even like the recipe book that comes with it. They charge a premium but you get premium quality with this product.

This is my third blender in about 10 years. The last one was a fairly sturdy well known brand that broke in less than 6 years of occasional use, and never made a smoothie as easily as Breville Ikon. I hope this lasts longer than the last 2. I think it will.

I mainly use blenders for making smoothies (using frozen berries). Every blender I've used in the past always left gross chunks and I had to add ingredients one at a time. This blender has none of these problems! Not one single frozen fruit chunk, perfectly blended and I can put everything in, hit the smoothie button and a minute later: PERFECTION!

The pitcher is a little hard to clean, but I think that's safe to say about every blender (berry seeds are very persistent). The lid is super tight--you definitely need two hands to remove it (one to hold down the pitcher) and the blades are easy to remove and clean.

Highly recommend!

Sensational blender. I have purchased and used many blenders and all have had cavitation issues (air pockets that require use of utensils to dissipate and continue blending). Due to the unique design of the BBL600XL's blades and pitcher I get great results. Highly recommended.

Great looking blender. I like the electronic control ... it pauses while blending. Blends ice to smoothie texture. Very quiet. However, this is second blender ... first one defective ... stopped working.

This is not your momma's blender! The 750-watt motor takes care of everything--fast. I really like the on/off safety setting when you need to check your contents. The smoothie setting works like a charm when you want to combine hard chunky foods with liquids. I recently made strawberry ice cream using frozen strawberries...excellent! I prefer to position the finger ring on the lid opposite the jar handle for better leverage and removal. Unscrewing the jar from the blade unit is odd because it's the opposite of the traditional "righty tighty; lefty loosey" format; but the arrows guide you correctly. The whole unit is beautifully designed with the jar unit sliding onto the base easily.

I use it to make smoothies every morning and have no problem with using several frozen fruits. It is a heavy blender which I wasn't used to, but I think it's because it is so well made. It is difficult getting the lid on and off the first few times you use it, but it does get easier. I save 20 minutes every morning now. Add ingredients, push the smoothie button and make my lunch while it's blending. My old blender was ok, but I had to babysit it, stopping to stir several times.

Powerful and quiet; a big upgrade from my previous blender. We make lots of fruit smoothies; it makes quick work of them, even with lots of ice and frozen fruit. It's important to not overfill the pitcher.

I started with a $60 blender, and it was toast in less than 5 minutes. I was trying to liquify a thick mixture that includes flax seeds, oatmeal and barley. I tried Hamilton Beach, Kitchenaid, Oster, and finally the top of the line Krups(which krapped out too.) None of the above didn't overheat or fail altogether, before the job was comnpleted. Also, none actually liquified the mixture: there were always small lumps in it. I tried the Breville Ikon, and I was able to blend the entire mixture at once into a smooth, contiguous liquid without stopping to let the motor cool. I didn't have to blend smaller portions, like with the others. This thing is worth every penny and more if you are serious about blending. If you just want to mix drinks you really don't need it. However, if you like to cook this machine will do it's job and that of your food processor too.

Some budget models have been proven in labs to perform just as well. The attractive design and stainles finish are the only visible advantages. The durability won't be known until we've owned it for 30 years like our last one -which was a budget design.
