Comments about Garmin Garmin Nuvi 260 GPS Navigation System:

An excellent, intuitive device that is very straight forward. Took it out of the box, charged it up, and started to go! Volume is great and easy to hear. Would like different accents to choose from. Device gives good ETAs and the trip data is fun. There are sooo many POIs! It's hard to take your eyes off this beaut while driving, so resist the temptation!

Nice maps with easy-to-use controls. Not fancy like the Garmin Quest, but it will be perfect for the people who just want to go from point A to point B. The text-to-speech function is key and is worth the extra money.

Comments about Garmin Garmin Nuvi 260 GPS Navigation System:

We bought the 260 because it was simple without the MP3 or bluetooth or much else. We just wanted a GPS program and not pay for the other 'useless' stuff.
We are a duel language family, so the multilingual voices are great and very accurate too.
Only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is we really only tested it around town. We will give it a thorough test in May.

Service & Delivery comments:

Delivery was 2 days....about 12 days quicker than promised!

Comments about Garmin Garmin Nuvi 260 GPS Navigation System:

Pro-Small and easy to put in purse when leaving car. partitularly like the way Nuvi guides you to correct lane for oncoming turns.
Con--Often chooses sub-optimal routes, but will probably get you there eventually. I don't like having to spell out destinations and wish for voice recognition.

Comments about Garmin Garmin Nuvi 260 GPS Navigation System:

Very customizable. You can create/upload your own Points of Interests (POI). Garmin provides over 6 million out of the box. They created an E85 gas station POI file for Jay Leno that is downloadable. You can download different vehicle icons. You can purchase additional maps/accessories. I also have the carrying case and portable friction mount (weighted bean bag dash mount, not permanent).

Service & Delivery comments:

Shipping was quick and free before Xmas. They also had the best price by far.

Comments about Garmin Garmin Nuvi 260 GPS Navigation System:

I bought this for my wife for Christmas and we've used it a great deal thus far. It's a nice unit, doesn't mispronounce street names, quickly finds the next best route if you miss a turn, has a good battery, excellent screen and it's easy to search for places you want to go if you don't know the address. I always thought these were toys but to be honest, I'd kind of like to get one for myself though I'm very good with directions. Every now and again it's taken 1-3 minutes to acquire a satellite, then worked perfectly afterwards, but those were snowy days so I don't hold it against the unit, 99% of the time it works better than advertised and is a genuine asset. I highly recommend the product to anyone looking for a compact, portable GPS system.

Comments about Garmin Garmin Nuvi 260 GPS Navigation System:

I am one of those people that gets lost easily, since I got the Garmin 260 as a gift from my dad.I drive back and forth to school in Dekalb and I visit friends at other schools around the state. I go into the city and get right to my destinations without calling my parents for directions. It was the best gift he ever could have gotten me,. This is a terrific GPS and the screen is really bright and easy to read while driving, and its compact. It acquires the signal very quickly, Looking up restaurants, or points of interest or gas stations is very easy. I know driving to ski resorts in Wisconsin will never be a problem even when the streets and signs are snow covered. If you have a kid and they get lost buy them this Garmin its worth the money and confidence that your child will get to where they are going.

Pretty good, except it isnt updated...for instance if you are looking for a restaurant, it may take you somewhere that doesnt exist...also if going on long trips, double check your route with google map or mapquest, sometimes garmin doesnt always give the fastest trip, probably because it isnt updated and any new roads are not registered.

Comments about Garmin Garmin Nuvi 260 GPS Navigation System:

I have owned a few GPS devices such as Garmin i3, c340 and a TomTom One 3rd edition, and most recently a Navigon 2100. I really loved the c340 most because of the text to speech function, so when I decided to get another gps, I looked at the Nuvi 350 and 260. After comparing features, they both stacked up the same. For me I didn't care about mp3 playback or bluetooth phone features of the 350, plus I didn't like the idea of the fold up antenna that always has to be up for the device to be on. So it came down to price and the Nuvi 260 won. If you just want a easy to use dependable compact gps with text to speech and don't care about all the other eye candy, then you will be very satisfied with this. The volume is loud enough to overcome road noise and the screen is very bright and vibrant. Easy to navigate menu as all Garmins are. You can also upload your pictures to the device and have them display as a slideshow if you like. I could have used a little longer battery life (turning down the brightness while on battery does help some). Other than that a home charger adapter would have been handy. But all in all I would recommend this gps to anyone looking to buy one.
