This is so simple to use and simple to understand even for those up-in-years. The activated speech is great as is the warning about heavy traffic up ahead. I highly recommend this product! This is the 4th one I've purchased - 265WT - one for myself, one for my daugher, one for a personal friend and one for my granddaughter. My other granddaughter will be going to college in August and I will certainly obtain the 5th one for her!

I used this for the first time on my trip from NYC to CT. The volume is not really that loud although its already 100% While going to LGA, it says exit 13 when there is no exit 13. It has 13A,B & C. So you really have to look at the arrow.

Purchased this for my wife who uses it for her work. She loves it and finds it very easy to use. I own a TomTom and think that although the audio might be better on the TomTom, the controls on this are easier to use and the directions more accurate. The live traffic capability of this unit also adds to the value of this GPS. If you are on the fence about this one, just get it. You will be glad you did.

The map database outside major urban areas is very poor. Ten mile stretches of ten year old bypasses do not exist. It's routing, both fastest and shortest, are generally poor. The speaker is very susceptible to heat. Voices are garbled when unit becomes warm - which is just about every time there is sun on the windshield and the car isn't cooled below 75 degrees F. Software occasionally locks up when Bluetooth is searching for a connection. Garmin could have done a lot better job on this unit. They really need to re-think the source they're using for maps, work on their operating software and look at their speaker hardware.

It brings you to where you need to go. It finds restaurants, Malls, Churches etc...

The Bluetooth doesn't work so well. You're better off buying an accessory specifically for your phone.

Seems to have minor inaccuracies especially with toll roads, wife's Tomtom 130 is more accurate but she likes the notification of destination on left or right with the Garmin.

I am happy with the product i bought. Though, there are random times the voice prompt is inaudible. The voice gets completely muffled as if someone is covering the speaker, just like being on a subway trying really hard to listen to the conductor. I must turn the product off and turn it back on and the voice usually comes back.

Easy set up out of the box, directions have been perfect. Exactly what I was looking for.

One issue has been the bluetooth hands free. I was disconnected frequently, and people on the other end had trouble hearing.

I havent't used it in large city driving yet where I really needed much help with directions. The times I have used it were mainly just to get the hang of it and test it. So far I am very pleased with it and expect it to be very useful.

The unit works great. The screen is large and easy to see. The bluetooth works just fine,even with an inexpensive Trac phone. The voice command is very clear and direct and speaks the street name. If you miss a turn or go past your turn,it rerouts very fast and gets you back on track. The free lifetime traffic, included, seems to work great too. It may take a minute to load the traffic info when 1st turned on. One very nice feature about the points of intrest is that it also includes the phone number of most places. This gps has a lot of really great features for the price.

This device is so cool! Easy to use and voice clearly understandable. Great for rerouting you. Gets you to where you want to go right to the minutest of detail. Very accurate. Not sure about comparing battery life to others as have nothing to go on, but, all you have to do is keep it plugged in to your cigarette lighter outlet and you have no problems; also, to get traffic alerts it has to be plugged in anyway. GREAT ITEM!

I'm a first-time GPS user, and I've begun to travel a lot in recent years, so I finally decided to make the move to purchase this unit. Wow. Big difference. This is a lot better than navigating a city map, although I don't recommend throwing away those city maps just yet. (They're good if you need to point out to someone where they're going.)

I bought this unit to avoid worrying about turns. Bad mistake. It lead me down the wrong path once on the way to a destination and twice on the way back. Whatever you do, DO NOT pick shortest route, as it will route you through down town/business everything!!! You have to have a general idea of where you are going. It needs an interstate/major road only feature, as it like to take direct lines or first possible turns, not the easiest routes. That may be something no GPS has. I'm still messing with it, so hopefully it will get better, thus the averager rating. On a bright note, the Bluetooth feature is great with the cellphone.

Screen is clear and easy to read. Unit tells what the speed limit is on the street you are traveling (a nice feature when you are not sure of the speed limit). As you travel along the screen's car moves with you... staying in the direction you are driving in... changing streets when you change direction. With free on the minute satellite directions you do not have to pay for a subscription which is a very nice bonus.

I deliver pizzas using this device. Because of the voice commands, and it using specific street names, I rarely have to look at it while driving. It never has failed to find an address in three weeks of continuous use, and shows very new streets/highways thanks to its online updating database. I like the free lifetime traffic feature, as it can reroute to avoid traffic/accidants. Only cons: will sometimes be a couple houses off, and say "arriving at..."

This Product is wonderful. Worth every $ spent.
Only issue i found is when windshield is cold(cause of winter) it doesn't stick properly and falls down. I didn't remove the plastic below, since i started using it in a rental car, probably i don't want to remove even in my own car, since I am worried it would leave marks on windshield and invite thiefs.

I use my garmin for business and will probably use it for vacations. The traffic feature is awesome and helped find the best route during bad weather. The garmin also changes routes if a way becomes clear as you are driving. It takes a couple of minutes at first to acquire satellite images, but when you are driving, it keeps up with you. I have noticed that it is a little off in some rural areas, but not by much. Even with this, I love it especially since the traffic comes free with advertisements. The ads are small and are fun for me to see, but they do not get in the way of the picture or directions.

This is used in our POV as well as my husband's work vehicle. The menus are easy to navigate and the maps are clear and easy to read. The only thing that we don't like about it is that it appears that individual addresses cannot be deleted, you must delete all.

The Garmin 265WT was easy to assemble and put to use immediately. I've used it a number of times locally since receiving it and its worked perfectly. I plan to use it for a lengthy trip we will be taking in 2009 and am confident it will continue to perform flawlessly.

I use my GPS whenever I am traveling anywhere I'm not overly familiar with. At least 4-5 time per week! It is very easy to set up, and the menu's are the most simple I have seen. Touch-screen is great and my screen is larger than everyone else I know who has a GPS!! Highly reccomend the Garmin Nuvi 265WT!!!

Right out of the box we used it for a three hour road trip. The screen is very easy to read and it adjusts automatically to the night screen when it gets dark; much easier on the eyes and less glare. Almost intuitive controls and settings. The bluetooth set up to an iPhone was a snap; only took a couple of minutes and it automatically downloaded the entire phonebook!! Just select a point of interest and call, no sweat! The one drawback so far is that it kept directing us to do a "legal U-turn" while we were on an interstate highway when we deviated from the route it had laid out for us.

Received as a gift and used for the first time today. I absolutely love it. The voice is clear and volume can be adjusted loud if you want. Easy to figure out, mounted to windshield easily. This unit is highly recommended as a 5 star. I have no complaints. Large wide screen, just can't say enough about it.

I'm glad I bought this model. For the first few days I didn't get traffic data, then I read its manual & found out it has to be plugged in to the car's lighter for power to get traffic info. Now not only I get directions but also free traffic status & there is no extra charge for the life of this device. It is made of very good quality & I'm impressed with its performance.

I use the 265wt for going to unfamiliar addresses, whether local or distant. During my limited use of the 265wt, I have found the traffic feature to be of significant value. Unfortunately, however, the free traffic feature may not help you avoid tie-ups on local streets, since coverage seems to strongly favor interstates and national routes. Coverage maps for MSN Direct also show a similar limitation, so this minor issue may be a limit of the technology rather than the free traffic service or the 265wt.

The route calculations and recalculations are much faster than in my old StreetPilot c330. Also, announced street names are helpful.

I'm not sure, but the selection between night and day screen colors appears to occur based on a clock rather than a light sensor. If so, the sunset times programs into the 265wt appear to be inaccurate.

The 265wt's speaker could be louder and clearer. It has the sound quality of an old, cheap transistor radio. The bluetooth feature is handy, but the volume on received calls is signficantly louder than the volume of announced directions from the GPS. As a result, you'll hear distortion in phone calls received over the 265wt. The people who I called using the bluetooth feature of the 265wt have been able to understand me.

This is the first pocket size GPS I own. I used to have an old version GPS software loaded on my laptop PC. Each time when I wanted to use GPS, I had to take my laptop, GPS receiver and power transformer (from 12V to 110v) plus it takes at least 2 minutes to load up on laptop before I can use the GPS... It was very inconvient for me.
Anyway, I knew what I was expected before I bought the Garmin 265WT. After 3 weeks using, I found it gives me fast load up, compact portable size plus traffic alert advantages - compare with what I had. Some minor accuracy problems of the map are alway the ploblems for all GPS systmes including Garmin. Generally speeking, 265WT is a great machine and it has all the basic functions I need. I will recommend it to the others who would need it for casual use.

I've had it for a few weeks now and find that it works well. I know that some have complained that the bluetooth doesn't sound so good to the outside listener, but my wife assures me that it sounds better than the bluetooth in my Infiniti M35 (which is perhaps no big deal since she's been complaining about the sound of the bluetooth in my M35 since I bought the car). My only beefs so far are as follows:

1. It takes longer than I'd like for the unit to recalculate if I don't follow its preferred route.

2. The traffic alerts indicating traffic congestion don't seem to arrive until I'm already at a standstill.

If you have to get from Point A to Point B and you like spoken directions with street names, this device will more than meet your needs. It's clearly best on longer trips where you don't really know the best route. The free lifetime traffic information is a big differentiator with other similar products and can be helpful if you are uncertain about slowdowns along your route.

Around town, the directions tend to put you on the main thoroughfares, typically streets with lots of cars and traffic signals. If you have your own favorite routes and know your way around a city, then you are likely to consistently override the guidance of the GPS system. For me, the most common word spoken by the device is "recalculating", which happens every time that I deviate from the recommended route.

What I would like, of course, is the ability to "teach" the device my preferred routes from home to work or to my son's home, and then pull those up to check for traffic when I am setting out on one of those trips. But that feature is for a future generation of GPS systems, not for this one.

I connected the device to my Mac and downloaded updates and Mac applications for this device. There are also Windows versions of those applications, but Garmin gets extra points in my book for their strong support of MacOS. Whatever your platform, you should do these updates.

I've got a pretty good sense of direction and have managed to drive for more than 40 years without a GPS, so I could undoubtedly live with online mapping and the 511 phone/online service. The value for me is in the traffic information.
