I've been using a nüvi 250W for a few years, which I recently upgraded to a 3790. A friend asked me to choose a basic GPS as a starter device, and I bought her the 1390T.
In comparison to my old 250W, it's a little faster at calculating routes and keeping up with maneuvers, but the touch screen is just as balky as the older device. Of course the price is much better than that of the 250W a few years ago!
No major complaints. It's a good basic GPS and a recommendable starter device.

This GPS system works well and has the additional features of Bluetooth and real-time traffic guidance to provide assistance when needed. My only complaint is that it takes too long to turn on and to access the satellite.

Very good GPS device for the money. Has features of more expensive units like traffic and bluetooth connection. Can be updated via USB and can add other voices (including your own!) and vehicle icons.

The Garmin Nuvi 1390 T is a great product by a great company. It works like a dream; I can get lost in a unfamiliar place and it will take me home. Easily. The display is easy to read, and its very easy to use; even non-tech savvy folks will be able to use it with only a little practice. I love my Garmin, and I'm really glad I own shares of the company, especially now because they're significantly undervalued.

Have found the Gramin to be very easy to use right out of the box. The quality is evident from the moment you hold it in your hands. Have used it for three trips so far an am very impressed with the accuracy of the directions and in letting the driver know in advance that a turn is upcoming.
Would highly recommend this Garmin.

Great GPS unit. It was very intuitive to use. I wouldn't want anything but a Garmin, and the 1390T is a great GPS. The lifetime traffic feature seems to work well. I also like the Bluetooth feature, although people I talked with said the sound quality wasn't very good - sounded like I was in a tunnel. Sound quality on my end was good however. I did end up returning the unit to ABT and exchanging it for the 1490T, which has the same basic features, but with one important addition. The 1490T allows for the use of custom routes which the 1390T does not. This was important to me and I didn't realize the 1390T didn't include that functionality. The 1490T is a somewhat larger unit - I think I acutally prefer the size of the 1390T. Summary - I'd recommend the 1390T to anyone looking for a great GPS that's easy to use and has lots of features - as long as you don't need route planning capability.
ABT shipped the unit quickly and it was packaged well and received without any damage. Customer service was very helpful in processing the exchange to another model. Very professional and helpful. I used their on-line chat for customer assistance as well as speaking in person over the phone to a representative. This appears to be a good company with good people with which to do business.

The navigation system is easy to use and accurate. The bluetooth capabilities fall short. You can hear your caller great but they have trouble hearing you at times. Stick with another hands-free device.
