This is a great Nav. It blows my wifes Audi Factory nav away. It will get me to places her long since gave up on. The HD is a great feature. The dude who was craying about this Nav just had some bad luck and it an MP3 geek. The truth is, if you buy a new CD from the store, you just pop it in and let it burn and your never have to bring it back to the car again. I have SIRIUS Sat radio with the Nav, so I almost never listen to the Library anyway. There are a couple of things that suck... like the fact that once you are rolling you cannot change any nav settings. But I found a great work around... when you first start the car the Z1 will have a little bit of text on a black screen while booting... you turn your lights on and off for like 1 second. That allows you all the funtions of Nav while driving. That is the only way. I also have BlueTooth which works great... it is true that the Voice Regognition sux like bad. I say, "CALL HOME" and it gives me Favorites #4... but my truck is LOUD, so that might be a problem. The other issues is with the speaker and Microphone... I can't turn it up loud enough without an echo to the person I am speaking with... so it is hard for me to hear some times.
Overall it is a great unit with great Navigation features. The only real change i would ilke to see is the ability of SIRIUS to have a 44 minute rewind buffer like their regular radios. The Hard Drive would make this easy!
I hope that helps.

Comments about Pioneer Pioneer In-Dash HDD Navigation System:
[...] I think the Z-1 is great. Easy to install, easy to use. I don't really care about the MP3 not being able to burn to the HD. My only gripe is that the unit is very temperature sensative and it will frequently fail to completely start up due to it being too hot or cold. Other than that, a pretty good nav unit. [...] Far better than the $2K+ for OEM units and far more functionality. To the previous poster, the real laugh is when you look in the mirror, not with the Z-1

Comments about Pioneer Pioneer In-Dash HDD Navigation System:
Poor quality (had it repaired 2 times since April 2006). IPOD adaptor is useless, voice recognition is so bad, my kids have me use it to make them laugh. Only words it recognizes is back, cancel route, and home. The hard drive idea is great, but that fact you can't copy mp3's makes it not worth the money. If you are like me you have already converted your CD's to MP3's and have favorites, etc. Why do I have to go through the process to reburn everything. And if the hard drive ever fails, you'll have to redo the entire process as you can't back it up. I've owned other Pioneer Nav systems which were good, but I'd buy anything else and save yourself some money and time.
