Comments about TomTom TomTom ONE 130 Car GPS Navigation System:
I had the 'pleasure' of testing 3 of them, and I am revising my initial review in great horror. I should have given it more time. These are unreliable pieces of junk. I bought one elsewhere for myself, and one for my girlfriend from Abt. My girlfriend's first GPS had a very low volume (a common problem with this GPS, see my previous review). [...]. The replacement GPS had an ok voice volume, but broke the first day of usage. It cannot connect to any satellites anymore. My GPS worked for 3 weeks flawlessly, but suddenly got ultraslow. It now announces to take highway exits about 20-30 seconds after one has passed them!?! In urban traffic, the screen updated so slowly that it took about one block to display that a turn has been made. They also are quite bad in downtown areas with tall buildings. If they lose signal, they randomly place the car symbol in the next street available. It is very confusing if one 'jumps' by blocks onto different streets. Since it immediately starts to recalculate the route, it becomes completely useless as it is busy rerouting every 5 seconds. All go back, and we'll get something better...

Comments about TomTom TomTom ONE 130 Car GPS Navigation System:
A great product! Almost everything can be customized and updated including POIs, maps, voices, etc. Superbright and very clear display. Loudest speaker in its class compared to Garmin and others (see below, though). Redirects within seconds if one misses an exit. Connected to satellites within 10 seconds out of the box. Extremely light and compact including a very small windshield mount. Very beginner-friendly. Good gift for the non-technical person.
Computer software is very user friendly and is keeping the device updated. One even can upload business locations from Google Maps.
Two minor problems:
1) The POI database is somewhat outdated in some areas. It can easily be updated, and who expects a GPS to list all businesses like yellow pages?
2) There is apparently a bad batch in circulation that has very silent speakers. Mine had a silent one. A friend's 130 is about 5 times louder. Doing some online research, I realized that other reviewers made similar experiences. I am returning it right now.
Abt is very, very good in handling returns. No charges, no hassle, so I am very positive about this purchase.
Bottomline: Go and get one. If your 130 is not loud and clear, exchange it for an updated version. It is a great product!
