This steam iron is a great tool for quilting, sewing, everyday ironing - I used it to press my curtain's pleats back into factory shape. It is heavy and solid. Easy to use - but the steam cord does feel warm. Suggest you use a stand-alone wall plug-in, as the steamer uses considerable current. Can be used as a dry iron, but setting must be set lower. Glad I bought it.

This is my second pressure iron and steamer. I'm still getting to know the product, but am very impressed by its ease of use. It succeeds one that was 20 years of age and is lighter as well as less complicated in that it uses tap rather than distilled water.However, the accompanying handbook/instructions could use a little more detail.

The steam generator style of iron is perfect for sewists/quilters who spend all day at the machine and need to press frequently. You never have to fill the iron; since it is a sealed system the water doesn't evaporate. The iron doesn't weigh as much since the water isn't stored in it. However! This replacement for my 13 year-old Rowenta Steam Generator is certainly not working as well as expected or as well as the old one. The only problem they share is that the soleplate doesn't get as hot as a regular iron; you almost have to use the steam continuously to get cotton, linen, etc., properly pressed. This one spits water almost continuously when the steam trigger is pressed; you can hear the excess water boiling off behind the soleplate; and the steam volume dial produces very little difference in steam volume once you are past the 1/4 setting. I'm Very Disappointed in Rowenta. I would easily have purchased the next model up, but didn't because of its poor reviews. Too bad this one seems to have many of the same faults.

I use this iron all the time, I love to sew and I can't use any other iron, this iron has me spoiled,my mom loves it too, so I just bought her one.
