As boomboxes are being replcaced by portable MP3 players, this unit offers unique quality features and good sound. AM is weak but FM is fine and CD sound is good. Performs as expected - this is a second unit purchased as a gift - still using first one after two years.

The AM/FM tuner does not get the best reception, but I have yet to find any
type radio/boombox that does. I like the MP3 player connection for my
iPOD. I prefer that than a docking station because of the frequency iPOD changes their shapes and don't always sit well in the station.

Sounds great, looks better. Fantastic design. MP3 compatibility was the main reason I bought this. Price deal from ABT was the second. My only gripe is it won't play AAC format. I own a Mac and the software it came with is PC.

I use it for enjoying all my MP3 's & all my cd's period. I like the sound, the radio channels and it wasn't that hard to set up. Good looking umit. I like the remote especially. It will be good when I take it to car shows, it will look good in back of my 1957 chevy because it is all black outside with a lot of chrome.

suitable for car travel: unit is medium large/heavy which is good for audio quality/volume--is a full-size boombox. No distortion when cranked up much louder than I care for. I haven't owned it long enough to judge battery life but if it performs as rated, would be very good. I primarily use for canine freestyle practice in various locations & warehouse studio setting. Could use a storage compartment/bag for power cord & remote--not a deal breaker, made my own. Very pleased, to date.

I had the Sony S2 sport boombox (the white and water resistant one) and loved it for many years. It finally died and I needed another to replace it. The sound on this new version is not quite as good but close. Considering the price is $50 less I consider this a wash. This also has the line in which is a HUGE upgrade over my old S2 sport. The only con is the handle. It feels flimsy and is probably the weak link on this boombox. On the S2 Sport the handle was built into the boombox and felt rugged. I have to be extra cautious with the new one.In closing: need a line in for your mp3 player? Get this boombox. I recommend it. Don't need the line in and can spend the extra money? Get the Sony S2 Water Resistant Sport.

I use this boombox in my office at work. I have the unit sitting on a shelf away from my desk, as I basically just need some background music. I was happy to find that the incremental volume levels are small/fine, so I have several choices of "quiet" background music. The remote is also nice to have...when someone comes in to visit or I get a phone call I can turn the unit off (there is no MUTE...which might be a problem for those who want to mute CDs.) I have yet to use the CD player or the auxilary (MP3/ipod) input port. The unit was a little larger than I had planned, so check out the dimensions before purchase. It will still easily sit on a shelf, but unless you have a really big desk, you won't want it there. As far as the tuner goes, at home, it picked up a lot of stations I don't usually get. When I brought it to work, I could only get one station (I live in a rural area), but it was the one I wanted. I don't blame the radio on that issue though, my office has a lot of computer equipment (servers) in it...the interference is immense. Overall, the sound is excellent for the size of the unit. I am thinking about getting another one for my workshop or for outdoor use.

This Sony radio is their only boom box that plays MP3's off of cd's. It has excellent sound quality and the controls are very simple to use. I bought it for my wife and wanted something easy because she is not very electronic savvy. She likes it very much.

I use this in my workshop and it's a good compact system that plays MP3's as well as regular CD's. That way I can be working on something, pop in an MP3 CD, and have hours of non repeating music to listen to. I used to leave the radio on, but now it seems to be one commercial after another and gets to be somewhat annoying.

The stereo was given as a present and the receiver loved it. It has great sound and all the necessary features: CD, radio capability PLUS MP3 input line (this is almost impossible to find since all stereos are targeted to Apple/IPOD products).

I CAN BURN MP3 CDS FOR SPECIFIC NEEDS LIKE WATER AEROBICS OR TRAVEL AND TAKE THIS BOOMBOX ANYWHERE TO PLAY THEM! I got the boombox as a substitute for computer speakers. I wanted something better than the plain vanilla speakers I had plus the added feature of having a radio in the home office. Usually I am listening to online radio through the computer while I am working but I wanted to have the ability to listen to radio/CDs when the computer is not on.

I like the design and the form factor. It found a home on the corner of my desk without taking too much space and it looks good. The remote control works great and comes very handy. The sound quality is satisfactory. You are not going to be amazed but neither disappointed. It could use a bit more power.

It definitely fitted my needs.

I bought this unit to replace an old aiwa shelf system in the bedroom. I needed something that could play CD-RWs and MP3-CDs (longer playlists to help put the baby to sleep are ideal), needed a remote to control it from the bed, and it needed to be portable so I can bring it out to picnics when necessary. I've only had it for a few weeks, and I don't use it all that often, but it does what I need it to. Sound quality is good for this type of unit, but it won't beat any shelf systems anytime soon. Really, this is the only decently reviewed, full featured, mp3 boombox that I could find on the market.[...] Pros:-Display shows ID3 Tags-Sleep mode -Remote-Folder selectionCons:-Display is tough to read from any angle other than straight ahead, and the text is a little small.-In order to put it in shuffle mode, you have to stop the CD, change mode, then start playing again (as far as I can tell). Unknowns:-Haven't tested battery life yet-Haven't really blasted it to see how it performs at high volume.

I went every where in Nashville looking for a box with aux and all I could find were work site radios with aux inputs. With every one going to pods why would any company put out a box without one? All of them had cassette players. Whats a cassette? Just kidding but still. This thing sounds great and is just perfect for around the pool. This is my 3rd Sony box and all still work.

The boombox works well for portable use at the beach, camp site, or in the garage, has an input jack for an MP3 player, and easliy plays MP3s recorded on CD. The sound quality is good, but the outpower and soundstage are average for a boombox. Overall, this product is much better than other similar devices on the market.

Great boombox in an era where they are declining in use/popularity. The awesome speaker sound, and design are great. Controls are nice and intuitive. Also has the mandatory input jack for today's technology... particularly mp3 players. Also includes some nice software for playing your own mp3 discs on the player.

As Expected, Sony great sound, features and quality, unsurpassed in portables stereo sound. According to my experience with Sony portable products, Sony has always sounded best.

I have an under-the-cabinet Sony (ICF-CD533) and a portable Sony boom-box (CFD-S38), both with Mega Bass and both have great sound. Sony portables may cost a few dollars more than other portables, but for the few bucks, definitely worth it.

This unit met all my expectations for the price and after researching available MP3 boomboxes.

The controls are "user friendly" and intuitive. The sound quality is good at low to moderate volume. At very high volume the speakers are over driven and the sound is distorted, but for my shop use and the price I am very satisfied.

Being a loyal Sony consumer most of my life this is only one of two Sony products I have purchased over the last decade or so that I would recommend to others. The other was a pre-MP3 boombox also.

Sony FINALLY goes MP3. We have one of these on top of the fridge in the kitchen. Great for MP3 mix CDs, pop one in, and get 11 hours of your favorite music. It even picks up where it left off when powered on again. Remote is handy to keep on the countertop. Getting it to play randomly from a specific MP3 folder is a bit tricky - requires cracking open the manual. Radio reception is excellent, and you can assign call letters if you want. Sound is excellent for this price range - perfectly good for kitchen/garage/basement. Line in is handy for any kind of iPod or wireless network player. I liked this so much, I purchased a second for the basement.

This unit will not make you think you are listening to an expensive audiophile system, but is fine for what it is - portable / non-critical listening. We bought this for our baby's room. The features we wanted were a remote control, ease of use, the ability to play iPods, small size, and decent sound. It has / does all. Plus, it doesn't look like a spaceship as is the style these days. It also doesn't have unnecessary features like a cassette deck. My wife, who is not very good with electronics, has no problems using it.If your looking for a really loud boombox for parties or a dorm room then get a JVC Kaboom ($200+). If you just want something cheap, small, and simple, you can't go wrong with this.

I bought an iPod last summer and soon realized it could hold a lot more music than I actually had time to enjoy with personal headphones. I decided to get speakers and play my iPod for others to enjoy with me. I researched many iPod-compatable portable speaker systems, most of which were either out of my price range or had poor reviews. Then I discovered the Sony Model ZSSN10S, with its line-in port for connecting my iPod or any other personal music device. This unit not only plays my iPod loud and clear enough to fill a room, but also features digital AM and FM, as well as a CD player which also plays CD-R and CD-RW discs, plus MP3 and Atrac discs. (Atrac is another compressed music format which I have not yet tried, but a CD-ROM program is included with the player.)

My favorite feature is the line-in jack which allows me to connect my iPod. I can carry about a thousand CDs-worth of music in my pocket and play it wherever I go. My other favorite feature is the shuffle mode when playing a CD of any format. Most portable CD players (boombox type) do not have this feature, and it is nice to be able to put several hours of music onto an MP3 disc and play it back in random order. I like to do this at work. It is like listening to the best possible radio station, without any commercials or other interruptions.

Another very good thing about the Sony Model ZSSN10S is, I can connect my iPod without removing it from its protective case. I keep my iPod in its case all of the time, and I have not seen another portable system which allows the iPod to be played in its case.

If I had to find a fault with the Sony Model ZSSN10S, it is the size of most other portable CD boomboxes, which is not really a problem, but these days smaller seems to be better (or at least more popular).

My expectations were definately met for the price point I was shopping in. I was surprised on the FM singal strength, stronger than expected. The only thing missing that would have made this product a 5 star rating is the AM/FM station scan feature stops at each clear station, which mean hitting the scan button every time you want it to move to the next station.

I've had many 30-50 dollar boomboxes and none come close to this one. The FM reception is fantastic. Even in my basement. The sound is great with plenty of power to keep me motivated during my workouts. The footprint is a little large but all in all a great machine.

With MP3 so readily available, it would seem to me that dragging 200 songs to a cd is a great way to play music outdoors. The problem for me was that until I found this Sony ZSSN10S player, I couldn't find a boombox type product to play such cd's on. To further complicate the problem, I have a hundred Old Time Radio CD's with sound in a more condenced version of MP3 and until now, I had to use ear plugs if I wanted to listen away from the computer.

This Sony MP3 CD Boombox - ZSSN10S player not only handles all the formats that I have, but a really tremendous bonus is that it picks up AM in my cinder block enclosed basement better than radio that I've ever been able to find.
