We utilize CD's and cassettes during our music classes at our preschool. We purchased this exact same model at the beginning of this school year, and like it so much, that we have now added a second one. It is lightweight, doesn't take up much room, and is very easy to use, based upon the controls and their locations. We are very pleased.

I purchased this boombox to play cassette tapes while on a long road trip. The battery connections did not work when the car was in motion. Perhaps the connection is so light that the slight vibration produced by the car moving caused the battery connection to fail. I had to buy an AC inverter to plug into my 12 volt adaptor or cigarette lighter in order to use the boombox while on the road. The boombox played all right when connected to the inverter.

I use the CD player to play CDs or tapes to help me get to sleep. It shuts off after the CD is finished which is wonderful. The buttons are easy to memorize and I can put the CD on again in the dark if I want to hear it during the night. The volume control is very precise and can be quite low if you want or with the mega bass quite loud while you're cleaning.

I needed a unit with a cassette deck so I could hook it up to my computer to rip mp3 files from old tapes, and it has worked great for that (with the additional purchase of a simple audio cable). And I can plug in my mp3 player to hear music. So for me this unit was a better choice than getting both a dedicated tape deck for the computer and dedicated speakers for the mp3 player, and I have the radio and CD player as a bonus.The only reason I have given it four stars instead of five is that I have not used the CD player except once to test it out, so I can't comment on that feature.[...]

I use this in my office and even at low volume, the sound is great. It is lightweight and the CD player works great. It does have a cassette player which I do not need at this time but good to have just in case.

The SO1 is a decent lite radio boombox. Now the SO5 radio now has AUX IN. even has better sound improved tonal quality than the SO1 had. Getting me 2 SO5. Cool Dudes! Said it ALL!
