Comments about Cambridge SoundWorks Cambridge SoundWorks HD Radio In Black Onyx:
I wanted a great sounding radio for my remodeled kitchen. This product looks good and has wonderful sound for a small radio.
My frustration comes from, I believe, some of the HD radio transmissions...at times HD is unavailable on some of my AM stations (AM takes on a whole new meaning with this concept). When that happens, you get regular radio sound, not high quality HD sound.
I like playing with the unit, seeing what is available on the radio dial, and love the fact that I can receive programming unavailable on regular radios.
I look forward to the day when HD transmission (especially for the AM dial) becomes more reliable.
I would buy this unit again!

Comments about Cambridge SoundWorks Cambridge SoundWorks HD Radio In Black Onyx:
Radio was factory-sealed bubble-wrapped and double-boxed for safe shipment by ABT Electronics. I chose and recommend the Onyx (black)color radio.
Setup was quick and instructions provided were detailed and clear. There is no warranty information, troubleshooting Guide, or radio design specs included in the instruction booklets.
The FM Dipole antenna, one of three provided, is recommended for best indoor reception as FM Tuner Sensitivity is not as good as a component tuner or receiver and I live in a suburban area. If you live in a deep suburb or a rural area, I'd recommend an outdoor FM antenna such as a Winegard HD-6010, Omnidirectional unit, available at ABT Electronics and good for about 25 miles. One AM loop antenna is also provided and seems adequate although, there are no HD AM radio stations in my area yet.
This radio has excellent sound and the base boost is appreciated by these old ears. The full feature remote allows direct entry, seek, and tune functions and many other features. The 3 in x 1.75 in dial is backlit and light intensity is automatically controlled based on room light. When the radio is off, time and day-date is diplayed. When the radio is on, time, radio station ID, Band and numerous messages sent out by the radio station are seen. I believe this is called RDS technology. When the radio is in High Definition mode, the incoming radio station signal strength is shown using verticle bars like a cell phone.
There are 10 station presets on the remote and you can add an additional 20 "Favorite" stations making a total of 30. There are two independent clock radio alarm settings with many options as to which days can be used in a weekly cycle.
One quirk I found was that the audio would completely shut off on rare occasions while dial functions would continue indicating station information. I corrected this problem by switching radio "off" and then back "on". This would be a good item for a troubleshooting section in the user manual.
I would recommend this radio without any hesitation to anyone interested in High Definition Radio. There are 6 FM HD stations in my listening area and the sound quality is great! Even the analog FM stations sound great on this radio! I haven't had a chance o compare this radio side by side with a Bose but I would bet the sound would be comparable if not slightly better in HD mode.
Thanks for reading my Review.
