Unlike some other dual alarm clock radios, you can independently set the alarms for different media including a radio preset or the loaded CD (with shuffle play or sequential play or single-track play). Each alarm setting also includes a volume setting so that you are not stuck with the last volume setting.

The snooze bar also cycles the light level. I wish the lowest light level was a bit lower, but I like being able to go to a higher level if I need to get up in the middle of the night.

I picked this unit mostly because of the stereo AM/FM radio (with digital tuner) and CD player, but I have several times been amazed by other features, such as the radio presets (as many as my car has!), the adjustable-brightness display (3 levels), and the adjustable-length snooze (meaning you can set the snooze length *when you hit the snooze button*!). There are probably several others that I can't remember right now, since I'm not at home, but the instructions are clear and not too long, and you'll learn new features just by reading them. I think my shopping around got me the best model out there. Biggest drawback is that the sound quality is only OK, not *great*, but it's much better than my last clock/radio (which was pretty old). Still happy with even that aspect, though. Just buy it - you won't be sorry.

I've had this for over six months now and this is best clock radio I've ever owned. I don't have to worry about resetting when power goes off or changing to Daylight Savings time. During the middle of the night, I can just tap the light bar on the front to give me enough light to see without turning on a lamp. The sleep timer and the digital volume settings allows me to fall asleep to music without having to guess if it's too loud or soft.

I totally love this clock radio. With the presets both my husband and I can go immediately to the station we prefer. Also, with the digital tuner, I knwo I am getting the right station each time. I like having three bands (fm/fm/am). The lighting is perfect. I like the bright blue glow while my husband prefers no lighting. The dual alarm wokrs great as does the nap set. I cannot think of a better clock radio. BTW, I did get two so now I have one at work!

I bought this so I could have a CD as part of my clock radio. This is a very good looking unit, but I found it complicated to operate and Sony is too cheap to give you an instruction booklet and instead puts all the instructions on a big sheet, which is awkward to read and use.

This product replaced my old one that got rained on about 8 years ago, it still sounded good but thought it was time to update appearance in bedroom.

Because of the Sony brand, I just knew the sound would be great, Sony should consider making a stereo version.

Side and back buttons are some what small and hard to locate.

Although this radio takes up a lot of room on a bedside table, it is attractive and functional. I like having the ability to play my iPod or CDs through the radio. The FM radio is surprisingly good too. The radio's shape and not so subtle blue lighting are unique. I liked the radio so much when I first bought it, that I immediately bought another one for my significant other. Good product. Good seller.

I love it, my wife hates it. Would buy it again, but they sure could improve a few things! It is a good choice but has some issues with being user friendly. The features that sell it are the Dual full alarm settings, CD player and nap function which we love; but the volume controls are small,hidden out of sight and difficult to use especially in low light. Plus many others have mentioned the bright backlighting, which even being prewarned was much too bright so we just have it turned completely off - not a big deal.

I ordered this as an additonal clock radio for the master bedroom. My room is traditional. The cover on the radio is bright silver and didn't look like the photo on the website. Only thing my wife and do not like is that the way the time is displayed it makes it very hard to see laying on the bed .We put a book under it on a angle for a better sight line. I bought two of these, one each for my sons, ages 7 and 9. They are easy enough for them to utilize, and provide a go-to-sleep timed option as well as dual alarms for waking up. They are happy that even their iPod Shuffles work with the supplied connector. The sound is better and bigger than expected for such a small unit. I have a much "nicer" and expensive unit (another brand), and I wish I had one of these instead.

I thought that this was to be a great CD player for bedroom use but am disappointed. though the sound is good, It can skip on prerecorded CDs and does not recognise Computer copies of CDs that play on my less expensive entertainment center CDPLAYER. MP3s recorded to disk are totally invisible. To hear MP3's you must plug in an MP3 player, whose battery life would make it not practical to use as a wake up component. The mode button on the side is all too easily pressed causing the CD to repeat a track forever. The buttons are lit by bluebacklight, at hi will lite the entire room at nite. Luckily it can be turned off. It does have a battery backup, and two alarm settings for a married couple or for weekday, weekend settings. all in all, i expected more from a SONY.

I recently stayed at the Aliante, a new hotel in Vegas which had this clock/radio in the room. I loved the design so much I had to order it and am very glad I did! It has a very pretty blue LCD light that can serve as a night light (wish I had it when my 92 year old Mom visited), which can also be dimmed or turned off. The alarm is nice in that it starts of gently and grows louder with time, and does not startle you out of bed. The sound quality isn't the best, but decent enough for me to play a relaxation CD. I love this product and would definitely buy it again!!! Shopped the Internet and Abt definitely had the best price [...]

The sound quality on this Sony machine is very nice as well as the sound of the alarm buzzer. It starts out soft and gets louder the longer it goes. I was tired of being blasted out by my very loud alarm. I go to sleep at night with a CD playing which is very soothing. The only drawback is that the light on the display is too bright, even on the lowest of 3 settings. I keep it covered with a towel at night or it would keep me awake.

I like the radio, it is versatile, looks great, and sounds good for being so compact. Unfortunately the original one I received had a defective volume control. Sony paid to take it back, but replaced it with a refurbished unit, I paid for a new one- not refurbished. I purchased this based on good reviews, but I have to say that there are some serious design flaws that a few reviewers mentioned that could stand to be repeated. First and foremost, the display is hard to see from a distance. The "Brightness" setting inexplicably also lights up the surrounding button lights and other decorative lights on the unit, almost washing out the display, and making the clock far too bright overall for bedroom use. Second of all, the tiny buttons all around the edges of the unit, which control all the main functions, are far too hard to distiguish from each other. Sony should have priorized some buttons and made them bigger, or given them different shapes (play, stop, forward, reverse, etc.). The unit is quite large, but the buttons seem like they came from a miniture travel device.

I bought this radio primarily for it's CD and MP3 player capability and it's dual alarms, but I was disappointed to find that the alarms do not support day-of-the-week programming, as my previous SONY did. With so many other features, I'm surprised they left that out.

Other than that, it's a good product, and I'm very satisfied. As stated elsewhere, it does NOT have an earphone jack -- contrary to the marketing description.

You can hear the high pitch whirring noise as the CD spins. If you like to fall asleep to quiet music/sounds--AVOID THIS MODEL. You might not notice this sound w/rock music. We took this back twice & then gave up & got our $ back. (THANKS Abt!) We needed a replacement to our Sony Dream Machine & this was not it. The buttons are on the side & not as easy to set recognize when you are half asleep. It had the nap feature that so many other machines lack, but the whirring noise while trying to fall asleep could make you crazy. Very disappointed by Sony's latest model. Bring back the dream machine!!

This alarm clock is very sleek, attractive, and reasonably functional. The blue backlit display--which lights up the control buttons as well as the clock--is the best feature. It easily adjusts to different brightness levels by touching the wide snooze bar. So, in the dark, you can increase the brightness to see all the control buttons and change radio stations, CD tracks, etc. Then, you can tone down from the brightest setting (which, in my opinion, would be blinding if you're trying to sleep) to de-iluminate the radio controls after making changes.

The display also continously displays great information like what radio station (or preset) is playing, which of two alarms are set and, even better, what those alarm settings are (e.g., 7:00 a.m., CD). Also, presets/alarms are easily programmable.

The configuration is reasonably functional. Large snooze bar mentioned above is great. The center CD lid is flanked by illuminating radio tuning buttons, CD track buttons, band selection, off/on button, and CD/band selection. However, the sleep button and volume control are small, non-illuminating, located on the sides, and difficult to find. I would also prefer that the CD-on, radio-on, and band-selection buttons (located on the top of the unit on one side of the CD lid, mentioned above), be more prominently and intuitively placed.

I have had some unreliable radio reception on certain FM stations, as the signal fades in and out as I move the unit (or myself) about the bedroom. More generally, the sound quality for both radio and CD is a bit thin and airy. I know that this item is not promoted as a high-quality sound system. But for the relatively high price, I was expecting a richer sound quality.

This is a slick looking clock radio cd player. I only found one Panasonic unit that looked as cutting edge as this Sony. Futuristic. Nice compact footprint for nightstand use. The clock radio has three lighting levels-bright, medium and none. The lighting is a blue hue on the face below the cd player lid and also around the vertical rows of buttons on both sides of the player.

Finally, a CD-Radio alarm setup with digital radio settings! Some stations here in my area are difficult to tune in the old analog way, but this unit eliminates that hassle. The blue lighting scheme is a helluva lot better than the old red or green ones I used prior to buying this little beauty. The blue is subdued and doesn't interfere with sleeping, yet it's just bright enough to read with ease, even at its lowest brightness setting. Sound quality is very good, and I have yet to have any problems with CD "skip", even when I've bumped into the nightstand. I highly recommend this one. Don't even bother with the rest!

I like to vary the volume settings, so having the volume controlled by small, hard to see or reach buttons on the side of the clock radio is not the best design. This has to be one of the best clock radios I have ever invested in. After waking up late for work, the second time this month, I came to the conclusion that cell phone alarm clocks suck.

I couldn't hear my phone go off, and I'm a light sleeper, so you can understand what I'm working with as far as my cell phone alarm. I decided, I need a real alarm clock. After looking around on the web, looking at various kinds, I stumbled upon this little gem.

I went to the nearest electronic store, messed around with it, and decided to buy it. Went home, set it up, instructions read like a breeze and were very simple.

The biggest pluses for me were that, first off is has a nice weight too it, not heavy, but by no means light, and I dont want something that feels cheap. Secondly, the design is very cool, and the 3 mode brightness is wonderful. I usually have the brightness turned off at night, and only use it when/if I have to get up to use the restroom for instance. The sound is very nice for something so small, and it wakes me up very easily when I use a track from a cd as the alarm, another very nice feature

I also like the fact that it has an Audio In connection, so I can plug my 80GB Zune into it or my laptop.

My only complaints I have with this product is the fact that the Audio In cable is too short. I easily fixed this by using an 1/8 inch headphone jack extention cable. They are very cheap, and they work just fine. I could see how someone would want a remote with this unit, like if you are listening to a cd at your desk and the unit is sitting by your night stand and you want to change the track of your cd, or go to a different radio station. But I feel that if your soul purpose of this item is to use as an alarm clock, then its usually by your bed and within arms reach anyways, so that doesnt matter to me.

But the best feature of this clock is the 3 time display. I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. And one of my biggest rituals is checking my alarm clock 20, 30, 40, maybe even 50 times, usually ranging from 10-30 minutes, just checking my alarm to first, make sure I have the right time, and then making sure the alarm is on. Its very frustrating. But with this clock I set the alarm and now I just have to hit alarm A or B to see that it is on, and see right on the front, what the alarm time is, what type of alarm it will be. I turned it on the first night and I fell right asleep 10 minutes afterwards, didn't have to check a thing.

Sony is spot on with this clock, I don't think they missed a thing.

Clock Radio does all that it is suposed to do but I would suggest to either buy a cheaper similar unit or upgrade and buy a higher quality Clock Radio. This unit would be a much better deal if it were closer to $30-$40 max.

I wanted a radio with a CD player, one that also plays burned CD's. This is why I chose this one. I love the fact that at night the clock light has 3 different brightnesses even off. The volume is super, great speakers. The only thing I don't like is the shape of it.

The sound is much better than I expected for an alarm clock. Very clear. I love the 2 alarms, I set them both since I get up at different times on different days, just turn them on/off on the right day. The main feature I purchased this for was the CD Alarm option - which is GREAT. I can select the track on the CD and the volume for the alarm. If I forget to put in a CD, it buzzes instead! They thought of everything.
Also love the 3 light levels for the display. I use the bright one as a nightlight to get into bed, then turn if off when I'm in bed. The dimmest setting is dim enough for me, and I'm a light sleeper. The dim setting does not glow blue, it's just a subtle grey light.

I use the product as an alarm on my nightstand. I was searching for something that would play cds to wake and to go to sleep. This product does both. The plus is that I can plug my Ipod into it and play music thru it that way either to sleep or wake. I agree with others that the lowest setting on the display light is still too bright. I can fix this easily by putting a post it note over it though. It would be nice to avoid having to do this, but I've had to do it before with another clock radio. Been looking for quite a while but found nothing in our price range, the right size and/or with the right sound.A couple of weeks ago, we stayed at Caesar's Palace in Vegas where they had these units bedside and fell in love with this ingenious Sony clock/CD/radio. When I bought this product I imagined I could use it to wake me up to a particular CD track and then REPEAT the same track over and over. It does start at the track I specify, but then it plays the rest of the following tracks, which is very annoying. I created a CD with a different message to myself for each day. So I wake up and hear about today, then tomorrow, etc. Not what I had in mind at all. I'm sure that most people would not have the same usage requirements, so I recommend the product.

Was looking for alarm clock that was number one - easy to read at wee hours in the morning; number 2 - got good FM reception; number 3 - had a CD player... This alarm clock had a bonus with a built in stereo lead so that I could plug it into my MP3 player. The sound is awesome too. It met all criteria. I don't think there is anything I would change anything about this clock.
