Comments about Sony Sony 4-Band Clock Radio In Gold:

Great as an alarm clock and for listening to TV, NOAH, and the radio. This is my second: the CD on the first died after 10 months. The sound is very good for the size. The stated limitation is the inability to save settings in the event of a power failure.

Comments about Sony Sony 4-Band Clock Radio In Gold:

This radio does exactly what I intended for it- provides music in master bath. Reception for the most part is good. However, there was /is an signal interference issue. AS wierd as it sounds it was fixed by lengthing the wire connecting the outlet to its source. The other source of interference is walking on the other side of the wall causes radio static

Comments about Sony Sony 4-Band Clock Radio In Gold:

My issue is that I use this primarily at night when I cannot sleep. Using the controls in the dark was really a problem for me. I could operate my old one easily but on this one the buttons that you want most regularly were not prominent (on/off) and the 'sleep' button. I was considering putting some kind of glow color on them so I could see them in the dark but my old radio started working again (something about the battery back up being removed and the radio being unplugged for a period of time and it 'reset' itself)...so, hallelujah, I am back with my old reliable for now. LOVE DOING BUSINESS WITH YOUR COMPANY THOUGH.

I would like the buttons to have more texture or something on the major buttons so I could find them in the dark more easily, but I like it. I especially like waking up to TV audio for the news and like the nap feature.

Great reception of AM, FM and TVaudio
By Back from KCVerified Purchaser from New York Area on 2/12/2008

Primary use:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Sony Sony 4-Band Clock Radio In Gold:

Remarkable reception of TV, AM and FM, even down in the basement. Nice and heavy so it doesn't vibrate off of the table or retreat as you set it. Solid clock-radio sound. The case is an attractive neutral color; not a glitzy gold. Despite its compact deign, it is not intended to be portable and is best left in one spot, as the delicate speaker fabric makes it hard to find a good place to handle the unit and its lack of memory allows it to forget all the presets when unplugged.

Comments about Sony Sony 4-Band Clock Radio In Gold:

I bought this radio for my 91-year-old mother. She often wakes up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep so she turns her radio on. Unfortunately, the volume has to be loud for her to hear it and she ends up waking the rest of the house up. The headphone jack has been a Godsend! Now she can listen at any time and not worry about disturbing the rest of the household.

Great little radio.
By DeeVerified Purchaser from Las Vegas, NV on 1/25/2007
Pros:
Accurate Controls, Clear Signal, Easy To Set Up, Good Sound
Cons:
Could be smaller
Best Uses:
Basic Systems, CD for sleeping, Wake up to cd or radio
Bottom Line:

Comments about Sony Sony 4-Band Clock Radio In Gold:

My previous radio had a built in tranquility sound for going to sleep & suddenly quit working. This unit lets me pick cd or radio to wake or fall asleep with. The sound is very good to be a little radio. It is just a tad big for the bedside but I have a large night stand so there is not a problem.

A good value.
By BillVerified Purchaser from York Harbor, Maine on 1/25/2007
Pros:
Accurate Controls, Compact size, Easy To Set Up, Excellent sound
Cons:
Difficult Controls, Display, Display is too bright
Best Uses:
Basic Systems, Smaller Rooms
Bottom Line:

Comments about Sony Sony 4-Band Clock Radio In Gold:

Two major criticisms: 1. the display is invisible from below. Placed on a headboard above eye level, the display simply vanishes. To see the time you have to sit upright and turn 'round - not fun on cold mornings. 2. the controls are small and hard to find either by touch or sight, even in daylight. Since one uses the controls perhaps most often in subdued light, without glasses on, the tiny buttons can be a little frustrating to locate. But practice makes perfect, of course. Good things: A. the sound is excellent for the unit's size. B. The display gives you the time and the radio frequency at all times. C. The play volume is separate from the wakeup volume - a surprisingly enjoyable convenience. You can listen during the day at a good solid volume (and the sound, as noted, is very, very good), and leave the radio wakeup alarm set at a much lower volume for a much more humane experience in the a.m. D. The FM section is sensitive and the digital tuning, of course, perfectly stable. E. The adjustable bass when boosted allows full-blooded symphonic sound, but - equally nice - when lowered can greatly improve speech discrimination during newscasts and talk shows.

Better Reception
By GeorgeVerified Purchaser from Bitterroot Valley, Montana on 1/18/2007
Pros:
Clear Signal, Easy To Set Up, Good Sound

Comments about Sony Sony 4-Band Clock Radio In Gold:

We live in a mountain valley where reception is difficult. Because of the type of am tuner in this radio, we get better reception. We also get good fm reception. We do not use the radio as an alarm clock.

Cons:

Many Features
By mandarinVerified Purchaser from New York, NY on 9/4/2006
Pros:
Good Sound
Cons:
Difficult Controls
Best Uses:
Home Use

Comments about Sony Sony 4-Band Clock Radio In Gold:

Many great features for a clock radio, but you'll need the User's Guide to get started. No battery backup. CD transport flimsy, and capability limited; only one constant speed (about 4x) for foward and reverse seeking, making it very slow to search. CD also skips or loses tracking about 3/4 of way through most of my CDs. Auto-adjusting of display intensity not sensitive enough; display will not brighten unless sensor exposed directly to very bright light. I like that I can wake to combinations of radio, CD or a gradually increasing, pleasant tone. And if headphones are attached, the radio or CD alarms will automatically transfer to the tone alarm. Good sound for a clock radio of this size.
