Samsung is among the highest quality electronic manufactures in the world. they make a product for everyones style and needs at a fair price. Their consistancy is been great quality over the years and still remains the same. I have a 40" flat panel LCD TV and just bought a DVDD860 DVD player. They work flawlesly, look great, and are admired by all who view. I love the way the remotes match.

This definitely cannot compete with the HD players coming out right now. If you want true HD then go with HD-DVD or Blu-ray. But if you don't want to dive into that kind of price point then this is a great player. The upcoversion is great. You can definitely see a difference in picture quality. The design of this player is excellent as well. If you own the Samsung HLS5688, this is a perfect match for it.

This DVD player packs a great picture for the money it caused. It also plays DVD-R's very well. I have had problems with other DVD players in the past playing DVD-R's.
The only knock I have on this DVD player is it seems a little bit to wide and the remote control is bulky.
