Comments about Sony Sony Silver 1080p Upscaling DVD Player:
It was easy to set up using an HDMI cable. (The cable is not included.) The picture is crisper than our older player but my TV is too small to provide a real test of the upscaling feature. It seems like a very nice player for our not very demanding use.
As always in our experience with ABT we got our product delivered right when they said it would arrive.

DVD player was easy to set up. I was watching movies after 10 minute setup. The colors and detail on the TV were impressive. I was not yet ready to jump on the Blu-Ray generation so i got this instead. Highly recommended.

I bought this Sony DVD player because it is the only silver single disk 1080p upscaling dvd player made by Sony. I wanted silver so it would match my Sony Home Theater System. I recently purchased a 1080p LCD TV that I put in my basement rec room and wanted a good dvd player for watching movies. It has a HDMI connection for the TV and a Optical Audio Digital out for my home theater. It took all of about 5 mins. to hook it up and about the same to set up the video and audio. Perfect picture and sound output. Right after I hooked it up my TV was receiving a true 1080p signal. I didn't know about ABT until I started shopping around for this dvd player and found them and they had the best price out of all the other online retailers [...].
I placed my order 1/19/09 at around 8:30am. I received an order confirmation at 8:45am. Received an order shipped email at 1:10am on 1/21/09 and my package arrived later that afternoon. Prompt delivery in the factory sealed box in perfect condition. I didn't know about ABT until I started shopping around for this dvd player and found them and they had the best price out of all the other online retailers and also free shipping. I would definitely buy from ABT again.

I purchased this unit as a replacement for a 5-year old Sanyo DWM-395 DVD player because some studio DVDs are shipping with RCE (Regional Coding Enhancement), which is a new type of security protection contained in the DVD itself, that can cause playback problems on some players. Sony has a reputation for being compliant with all the current video standards. Also the Sony's superior video processing eliminated noticeable jaggies (jagged edges on grahpics) in the playback of some DVDs. I also like the "time remaining" feature on the units display that tells me how many minutes are left in a movie. The unit provides a full set of analog & digital outputs from Composite video to HDMI, so it will drive any TV, new or old. I currently use this on a 480i standard definition TV, so I have not tested its upscaling features.

This product is great for playing almost any generic DVD. It has a nice design and shows a pretty good picture. based upon the value and cost, I rate this a 5
