I needed 2 new DVD players for a family cabin and one for my living room, as the one we had there was gradually dying. As all the TVs were HD, I wanted an upscale player, not just progressive scan. Two of the TVs were Sony Bravia, so I preferred this to be also. This was by far the best deal I found on a Sony upscaling DVD player on the web or in stores[...]as I was buying 3 at a time[...]got [...]an additional amount off. The players were very easy to hook up. The picture is great and they're easy to use (my 7 year old intuitively knew exactly how to use it right away). If you're like me and still not quite ready to step up to Bluray, this player is your best bet for the money!

This item is good for run of the mill useage. However, it is an upscaling, not upconverting player. So the quality of the picture is just slightly lacking. Also it does not come with an HMI cord. If Sony is going to sell this, they should include a cord.

We bought 3 of these DVD players and use in the living room, bedroom and common area and they all work wonderfully. I would recommend this product to anyone who watches DVD's.

I love how light weight and easy this product was to set up. Its also very thin and goes prefect with my tv. I was afraid that dvds wouldn't look as good with this dvd player but they look great!

Have only used to play commercial DVDs and Music Video Dvds. Worked great on both. Don't have an HD TV but the video and audio is great on my Sharp Visio. Looking forward to trying Camcorder to TV and burned DVDs.

We bought our first DVD player back in April of 2002. Technology was fairly new back then. "Any" scratches would slow or freeze it, but not with the Sony 1080p! This thing is great, it's the way they should have been designed in the first place. It gets plenty of use, (everyday).We have an older TV, probably 15 plus years old, but even on that we can see a sharper picture and when you pause, the picture is just as sharp. Even our old scratched DVD's that we could no longer watch on our old player perform without a hitch in our Sony. We have two young children (7 & 9) and our discs do get scratches on them. Trust me, you won't be disappointed, it's been a great edition to our home.[...]

This is the second Sony dvd player that I bought. This one replaces an old DVD player that I had in my den. I bought a 37inch flat screen tv with an HDMI connection so I wanted a new DVD player. The price was excellent. Movies look great.

It is good, but could have been better. I have seen better Sony products! The poster said it plays mp3 CDs. The user interface is not useful for mp3 CD playing. Good if you just want to play DVDs.

I just bought a 52 inch HD tv and bought the Sony DVD player with the HDMI connection to replace an old DVD player. The movies are unbelievable. What color, what clarity....Just a little hard to turn on..I have it placed on a tv stand that's pretty low to the ground. But, once it's on, no problem using the remote to start the movie.

I have been extremely pleased with this dvd player. It plays discs that my computer can't read. I have it hooked up to a projector and it has been great fun watching films. I have zero complaints. It is slim and sleek and easy to use.

I bought this product to use with my Sony Bravia LCD TV 26 inch. I was on a budget and needed a new television and DVD player for my bedroom. I was a little bit unsure about the quality of the upscaling Sony DVD player. I read several reviews and decided to give it a try. The reason I picked the Sony over other possible choices was the fact that it was compatible with the Sony Bravia television. They link with each other seamlessly in other words, very easily! The quality of the upscaling is somewhere between a normal DVD, and a Blu-Ray disc. Do not expect Blu-Ray DVD performance you will not get it! I am very pleased with the product and the company selling it, ABT.

The player is slow to respond when powering up or giving commands. Although the output quality is very good, it is limited to the capabilities of the television that it is installed on. Do not expect HD quality on an older set.
