Comments about Sony Sony Black Blu-ray Disc Player:

Picture and sound are great. I've tried 4 BD and 4 regular DVDs. They load in just a few seconds and played with no problems. I was worried about some complaints after firmware upgrade but mine upgraded just fine. I hooked up 1 tv to the HDMI port and a second tv to the component outputs -- works great

Comments about Sony Sony Black Blu-ray Disc Player:

Slow load at initial start-up but it seems to load faster now. Great web features, though not quite as fast or as efficient as my Roku. The Roku can stream better then this unit at speeds under 2 MBPS. I'm running about 1.7 MPBS and I can watch an entire feature length movie on the Roku without buffering. The Sony BD 460 buffers quite a bit with the same content from Netflix. And I'm wireless on the Roku and connected via ethernet cable on the BD460. Speaking of which, the Sony needs some RAM (flash memory) and a high speed hdmi cable to fully functional as advertised. It also needs a wireless adapter to be able to connect wirelessly. None of these are included in the original purchase price. You get a set of RCA red/white/yellow plugs but no hdmi, which is crazy because the RCA cables won't give you high def audio or video. Also, the wireless adapter recommended seems to have some mixed reviews. I chose to hard wire the unit to my router. Some content works fine, other content, lke from Netflix, is sub par at my limited download speed.

Comments about Sony Sony Black Blu-ray Disc Player:

I recently purchased this product in order to stream netflix through my home theater system. The set up was super easy - I was watching movies and series from my Netflix account in less than 45 minutes including unpacking. As a bonus the picture quality was an improvement over the player I replaced. I gave it 4 stars because I haven't had it long enough to know how it will perform over the long run.

I have this Blu-Ray player hooked up to the Sony KDL-55EX500 and they work beautifully togehter. Together, this television and Blu-Ray player bring the Blu-Ray discs to life. The picture is awesome and I really could not ask for more. Set up was absolutely painless and the remote is easy to work with. I do not have it hooked up to the internet yet, but I cannot wait. Sony has hit home run [...]

For those that know nothing about Blu-Ray and just want a user-friendly player, this one is for you. This player is the closest to a plug-n-play device you can get. For the experienced user, there is a wealth of adjustments that can be made to fit your needs. For the first time buyer, this model will walk you through and explain the settings step by step for a quick and simple set up. All and all a great product.

I have this connected to my Toshiba 37" LCD TV and the picture is great. I've been streaming Netflix a lot and the image is good, while the controller works okay. When watching DVDs, it has a great feature to skip ahead 15 seconds. I wish it supported that when streaming Netflix.

Unit works as expected; however received reconditioned item instead of new.

Service & Delivery comments:

I don't have any issues with the product itself yet, my only issue is that ABT says on their website that they only sell new, unopened merchandise. My unit has a sticker on the back that says "reconditioned". Definitely did not receive an item that was new and unopened. Contacted ABT for an explanation, but they did not respond.

Abt Electronics Response: Abt does not sell B stock or refurbished items. Our inventory is direct and sealed from the manufacturer. We have been in communication with the customer via e-mail regarding their order. We have offered to return and exchange the unit at no additional cost to the customer. We have reached out to the customer awaiting for the return of the unit. As of 1/18 we have not heard back from the customer.

Great starter Blu-Ray. It works great as a player the only thing I can say bad about it is the network interface can be tricky to navagate. Entering in search information for YouTube can be painful without a keyboard. I still haven't got the search on Slacker to work.
