Comments about Toshiba Toshiba 1080p Black HD DVD Player:

If your going to spend $[...] or more for a DVD player or buy an HD Television you must have an HD DVD player. The Toshiba XA2 can cover all applications up to 1080P. My current TV is only 1080i but the picture is awesome in HD. It almost makes me want to go out and buy a new HDTV w/1080P. It excels in comparison to watching HD channels on DIRECTV or local aerial HD feeds in picture quality and sound. I would have given this unit 5 stars but I held off due to the lack of features available with the current firmware version. I did update my unit to the latest firmware version available using a network cable plugged into my router. Having owned and used Denon and Sony high end DVD players I missed some features like time remaining for chapters and titles. However, these features can be easily added with firmware upgrades. I just wish Toshiba would have done this already but its not a major thing and they concentrated on the major features that are more important. Awesome unit, well constructed metal case, is not flimsy like the LG combo HD unit and its the Real Toshiba patented HD DVD. It was difficult to decide on which HD format to buy but I went with Toshiba since this unit was second generation compared to all other units and blu-ray players. Many movies are available in HD DVD now and more are being released each week.
