An excellent and easy to use product!
By JamesVerified Purchaser from PA on 8/6/2007
Cons:
does not support HDV
Bottom Line:

Comments about Sony Sony VRD-MC3 DVDirect MC3 Multi-Function DVD Recorder:

This is an excellent product and it is extremely easy to use. The only exception is that it does not support HDV; but if you have an HDV camcorder all you have to do is convert the signal to DV by using your camcorders connections menu while it is connected to the recorder and everything works like a charm!

I burned all my recorded footage from my HDD camcorder onto DVDs by simply connecting it, inserting a blank disc, and pushing the DVD Burn button. Could not get any easier. It shows you progress and also how many discs are needed, etc.

This unit works better than I expected. Less then a minute to load the DVD and just a couple minutes to finalize it. Nice to have the, top mounted, LCD to monitor recording. I'm using it for recording live video and I've just ordered two more. Wish it had feed through (output) signal so I could have multiple units recording without using splitters.

This product rocks! If you want to turn your VHS, HI-8's into DVD's this is it. One button and go, Real easy to use. In my opinion way easier to use than the computer and video capture. Definately worth the investment, just in time saved alone.

Comments about Sony Sony VRD-MC3 DVDirect MC3 Multi-Function DVD Recorder:

I've used this drive with 2 computers. The first a newer laptop, worked first time. The second an older desktop, I spent 12 hours trying to get the computer to recognize the drive, I spent 3 hours with Sony Tech support, they couldn't solve it. Finally, I realized that my system did not have USB 2.0 connections. When I installed a USB 2.0 card and plugged into that, it worked perfectly.

NOTE!!!! The Nero software is buggy!! DON'T load the disk that comes with the drive, go to Nero's web site and download and install the newest version. ALSO, remove any other NERO versions you may have loaded FIRST! AND NERO does not co-exist with Easy CD Creator, you MUST uninstall the other programs first, then load the NERO software. This is not a problem with the drive, but problems with the bundled software Sony has choosen to use. The drive worked flawlessly once I had USB 2.0 ports.
