My main use is to record and archive hi-8 video tapes and possibly Hi-def SDHC video cards in the future. I also use it to watch movies. So far it has performed everything well. Don't know about the tuner. Perhaps will use that feature at some future date. I would have liked an SD card slot but I don't think it can be beat for the price. I highly recommend it.[...]

Yes, discs DO take time to load, but who's in a rush to load discs? Tuner is outstanding, device functions are clear and precise, and the remote is large, well designed and easy to use. I swear by Toshiba notebook computers, but they deserve a special kudo for producing an admirable entry into the DVD recorder market that major competitors won't even touch.

Abt's personalized service is the best I've ever encountered. The receipts and tracking data that immediately followed the sale left no room for frustrating guesswork. Although the product was shipped in its original factory packaging, the DR570 arrived in perfect, ready-to-use condition.

THE DR570 worked as expected, however, when in sleep mode the unit emitted a high pitched squeal that was quite loud.

Since that was the case, the unit was returned.

Service & Delivery comments:

Delivery was prompt.

Since the product was defective, ABT Electronics sent out a UPS return label with no questions ask.

Very impressed.

Will do business with ABT Electronics again.

READ the instruction book. it really makes a difference in your enjoyment of the recorder. use rw discs until you fully understand how to record. you can erase and use rw discs over and over. the picture quality in the sp mode is about as good as dvd recorders get! timer recording is easy, and the disc is easy to erase after watching the program, if you read the instructions. the tuner signal is a bit weak. can't control tv with remote.

fast delivery with tracking. item was received in undamaged, factory box. no complaints, but it would have been better if the item was double boxed. things do sometimes get mistreated in transit. abt's is a top notch company with a reputation to match. i can understand why. 5 big stars from me!

It accomplished both goals. Quality good. Read instructions as you set up. It makes continued use a lot easier.
