I love this TV. After weeks of HD research I came to the conclusion that this tv would be the best combonation of picture quality and price. Man was I right. The picture on this this tv is unbelievable. I can't wait till I can start watching movies on a blue ray player so that i can actually use the 1080p capabilities.

My experience with this Samsung TV is very, very good. I am receiving the HD signals from an actic antenna, with excellent results. A nice feature is to be able to see the intensity of signal you are reciving. There is a wide variety of input types, including component video, HDMI, PC, USB, etc. I will try soon an upconverter to convert std DVD into quasi HD.I made an extensive search of the available DSP projection TVs, and this model is certainly the best.[...]

Upon receiving my Samsung 61 inch television, I was very happy to notice the large box was delivered in perfect condition. I could'nt wait to put a stand together, put the Samsung on it, and get down to business watching movies with a beautiful picture once reserved for expensive, noisy moviehouses. Once I got the cablecard in, I was like a kid in awe of the amazingly clear, vivid colors in such detail watching special effects, shadowy depths in darker colors, and sharp contrast that remains even in fast moving images. The speakers on the set are fine for now, though I soon shall add a sound projector to accompany the room filling screen with comparable surround sound.

Truly impressive picture quality - just wow. HD (via DirecTV) is just amazing, especially programs like Discovery Nature & animated films (Nemo & Shrek). Can not say enough about the picture. The remote is mediocre, at best. Awkward (too long) and difficult to use for mutiple components. There is one thing I am not particularly happy with. The DirecTV installers advised there was an issue when using DirecTV via HDMI cables and the Samsung TVs where the picture flickers on an off (I hooked it up myself to check). The DirecTV installers blamed Samsung for the glitch (for what I hope would be something that was solved with the new model). I called Samsung and they quickly blamed it on DirecTV's box (the newest model) saying they need to make some adjustments with the box utilizing a lap top. Needless to say I am using composite (Red, Blue, Green) cables and wondering if I am missing something additionally by not being able to utilize the HDMI. If I find a solve for this I will gladly share [...].

Bought this TV after a lot of research and a conversation with an HDTV repair company. This TV came highly recommended for its durability. The styling is great. For its size, it doesn't take up nearly as much wall space as the other 61" TV's I looked at. I almost bought the 73" but couldn't justify the extra 1/3 price and my room isn't that big.This TV has all the goodies you could ask for and a great interface.The remote isn't really up to the task of true home theater, but that is what the Harman Kardon TC30 is for (or most good home theater receivers that aren't HTIB's).[...] I couldn't be happier.Son got a Wii for Xmas and playing on this TV is amazing. I can't wait to get my hands on a blue-ray DVD or PS3 (when the bugs are worked out).

The tv has an excellent picture, although be aware that because it is a 61" picture, when you are looking at input that is not HD, you can most definitely see the difference. I have gotten a HD Dishnetwork receiver since getting the TV, and those broadcasts that are in HD look fantastic, as does any DVD that I play. Those that are not HD, are good, but not as clear.

Great TV went from a 46inch 15 year old rear projection to this and I cant get up off the couch...Get an HD package standard TV just don't cut the mustard any more.

The HLS-6188 is well packed/protected for shipment from the factory. Easy to set up. The HD picture quality is great with Dish HD satellite.
Another bonus...Local HD and SD channels come in great with just a little ol' indoor antenna.
The only "con" I would add is the angle of view with the set, and any other DLP rear projection HDTV. However, as long as you are reasonably centered in front of the set, all is good.
After weeks of HDTV shopping, I'm glad I went with this set. No buyers remorse here...:)

I am a little overwhelmed by the technology as this is our first large TV. HD broadcast are very good though "regular" broadcast TV seems to be better on my 30" Sony Wega. When coupled with an AV receiver, DVD et cetera, I think we may need to invest in an after-market master remote. I know I may be alone here but viewing 61" from 10 feet seems to be a little much for watching the news. [...]Although I have hooked up to a home theatre, the set has good stand-alone sound.

I've had this Samsung DLP 61 TXV for a few weeks and it has a great picture. I am extremely happy with it...but the manual could do a better job of explaining some of the settings. The manual tells you that you need to check with your cable/satellite provider, and they tell you to look i the TV manual
