This is a pretty good camera, if you don't want to spend too much money. I previously had a SONY Cybershot, which has much better quality for non-flash photos, which I prefer. Still getting used to the many settings, but I usually go on automatic instead of the "Friendly" mode. Red-eye reduction takes a long time, and people usually end up moving before the camera is finished taking the photo. This camera, as with many digital cameras, is good outdoors, with bright natural light. Indoors works best with flash on automatic or manual adjustment of the contrast. It's a good idea to experiment with the settings before taking "real" pictures. Movie mode is good, though you have to be sure you're pushing the button until it says "REC". I thought I took a movie several times, when it actually did not record.

It's small enough to carry in my purse. I like the way it focuses on the subject.
