Anxious to learn more about this camera, as I have not yet touched the surface if what it can do. Everything I've tried has been great.

Comments about Nikon Nikon Black 16.2 Megapixels Digital SLR Camera Body:
I have been using the D7000 for several weeks now and have to say that I am not letting it out of my hands anymore. I also own a D40, D50, D70 and several point-and-shoots, and the 7K is definitely the most sophisticated of them all.
The hardware interface allows instant access to most of the manual controls one needs, without going into the menus, which makes changing the frequently used settings a breeze. U1 and U2 settings are great to have, I use them for setting the camera for instant access to a quickly needed but complicated mode, like the bird in flight; for other regimes I have the time to tweak the A or P modes. If you come from a D3, D700 or a 300 you may simply say "this is how the old one was", which is not a disappointment either but for the two-digit series, this is a huge step up. The D90 I tried in the store did not feel as refined as the 7K but I did not shoot the 90 for an extended period, either.
You will need to change the default sharpening and color settings, the stock ones are bland compared to previous consumer cameras and you may think something is wrong with your camera. I recommend taking a couple dozen shots in RAW+JPEG and then experimenting with the color (saturation and sharpening), and also the modes (Standard, Vivid, Landscape etc.) since they place you slightly differently in the contrast / brightness / sharpening space. You can use the camera itself or simply do it in the ViewNX-2 on the computer, where the results are much more apparent. Once you find what image processing you like, just set it up in the camera and go.
The action of the 7K is the most refined, mirror slap feels smoother than even the D40's nearly non existent one. The D70 compared to the 7k feels like a 45 cal pistol.
Make sure you have good lenses - something like a 18-55 or other f/3.5-5.6 may not please you with the results, the 7K has so high pixel density that it may start showing the limitations of the optics. I don't like the looks of the slow lens results for anything other than maybe people or travel photography. For example, I could not get the lens to focus to show the antennae on a mosquito with a slow lens, although in sunlight, people shots were ok. I think you will be best served with the f/2.8 series of Nikkor zooms and their fast prime lenses.
Overall, I think if you are considering a camera in this price range you either know what you want or have heeded some good advice. You will not be disappointed, the D7K is excellent.
Abt did great on service and delivery; shipped the camera separately from the backordered lens and charged nothing for shipping of both. I will be ordering from Abt again, it is right up there with Adorama and B&H. BTW, call them on the phone to order: the sales person may offer a discount that may be not listed on the web site.

Solid construction, good in low-light (paired with appropriate lens), professional build, dual card slots, excellent video quality, high quality images, excellent price point, etc.
Had been looking for a Nikon D7000 in stock and was surprised that a) they had them at all and b) that they advertised free shipping and no tax (if shipping to NYC). c) They had the original price listed vs. [...] who had jacked the price a few days earlier. All seemed too good to be true. Reading some horror stories re: shipping on this and other review sites I had my doubts. However, after a 'live chat' and a pleasant phone-call I put a 'bet' in that they'd deliver it and was told the camera would be there in 2 business days. If it didn't work out, I could have AmEx deal with it.Turns out they weren't joking. Camera arrived, factory sealed two days later, paid no shipping nor tax and got the best price around.NOTE: ALL online retailers are SUPPOSED to ship only to addresses that AmEx credit card holders have cleared for shipping prior to ordering. ABT is the only one I've ordered from who actually abide by this rule. This resulted in their (very promptly) having to put a hold on the shipment while I gave my work address (separate then my billing address) to AmEx which takes all of 2 minutes and is effective immediately. 20 minutes later after calling ABT's sales rep (who had given me his personal extension to expedite things) the order was back on and I didn't miss a day in shipping.

Comments about Nikon Nikon Black 16.2 Megapixels Digital SLR Camera Body:
I upgraded from the D80 and took this camera on a trip to London. With the 18-200 zoom this camera takes amazingly sharp pictures. The U1 & U2 settings are really a timesaver after setting up and the LCD on the back is a major upgrade. Also, the ability to review most settings on the back LCD is a real bonus. They should get rid of the top LCD and put everything on the back. This camera will not disappoint, very impressed so far.

I used this camera for my sons school program and was delighted with the versitle nature of the camera. It has a bright LCD panel and was very comfortable in size - Not to big to make people shy, but has enough prosumer features to produce great photos. Shutter lag could be less but for a camera in this class. Very good.

Comments about Nikon Nikon Black 16.2 Megapixels Digital SLR Camera Body:
Prior to the Nikon D7000, I owned a Nikon D70s. Although great, it was time to upgrade to something with better low-light abilities and still able to use my DX lenses. I must say, I was hesitant on spending [$] on a new camera but I'm glad I did. I LOVE the camera. I never let it out of my site. The 39 AF points, 1080p HD Video, dual SD slots, low-light capabilities and many more! I also purchased the MB-D11 battery grip to give me that extra length at the bottom and the ability to shoot vertical without making me feel uncomfortable. I also purchased a spare EN-EL15 battery as I don't want to be shooting pictures and end up stopping and missing great shots because I don't have a spare battery. The camera may be too advanced for new those coming into the DSLR world. Those familiar with Nikon DSLRs will pick it up easily. My only complaints are red hot pixels. This is a known problem and Nikon has released a new firmware but even with the new firmware, its still present in some cameras. Red hot pixels is viewable at high ISOs and/or in Live View mode.[...]Video could have been better. Auto Focus (AF) is a little wonky as it likes to AF a lot and it takes a while. Its best if you did it manually. If you use AF for video, you also hear the AF motor in the video. To eliminate this, you'll need to purchase a external microphone.
Item was backordered but ABT staff was accurate in time frame of when it would be in stock. Item arrived securely packed. Of the two Nikon D7000's that I bought, one of them had red hot pixel and I immediately contacted ABT for a exchange. It took a little longer to receive email with return shipping label than what was stated to me (took 4 business days instead of 2). But shipping of replacement was quick and handled professionally.
This was my first time purchasing from them and I am impressed and will definitely be ordering from them again.

Excellent backup to my D700, so good that for certain situations I use this over the D700 as the primary. For example studio, when I require more DOF than Full-Frame sensor, or when I want more reach on the Tele.

Great all around. User settings make it quick it and easy to switch to different shooting environments. Full manual controls for video make it much better than the D90 for video.
