Comments about Olympus Olympus SP-550 UZ Black 7.1 Megapixel Digital Camera:

I got this unit because I wanted an SLR experience without the hassle of having separate lenses and that's what I got.It has an equivalent 28 - 504 mm lens which gives both wide angle (most ultra zooms start at 36 mm or higher) and ultra zoom and includes image stabilization. It also uses regular AA batteries so I can carry some rechargables with me and not $pend a mint on the hybrid ones.[...]

Comments about Olympus Olympus SP-550 UZ Black 7.1 Megapixel Digital Camera:

I've only used the SP-550UZ for 2 weeks, but I like all of the features. The 18x zoom is one of the best features, and I found the photos to be sharp at this level of zoom. The "Scenes" modes provide step-by-step setup for many different photo opportunities. One of the best features is the "predictive mode", which automatically shoots 5 frames of photos in short bursts; this is useful for those times when you're not sure when the action will occur.

The only negatives: noise in low-light conditions and inaccurate colors with some lighting conditions (like overcast skies). However, I have not played with all the settings, so these problems may be adjustable.

All in all, I replaced a Canon S2IS with this camera, and I am pleased. The Canon produced blurry photos under many conditions, and I have not seen a single blurry photo from the Olympus.
