This remote is very good, and even has a feature that works where the original Sony DVD remote did not: When playing a CD in the DVD player, I can advance tracks, pause, etc. which I could not do with the original remote.

Additionally, it is nicer to have one remote for both the TV and the DVD player.

Be sure to hold down the set button firmly, maybe with a pointy tool, when setting up. But that said, set up was easy as could be.

I'm glad my dog chewed up both original remotes!

Could not set up DVD Player (Hitachi) following the accompanying instructions. However lucked out by pressing the TV/Video button. Could then switch from TV toTV and DVD.
Better instructions needed or maybe I am just dumb.
