Consumer Reports rates Abt top appliance store
June 13, 2012 | Ameet Sachdev
For the third consecutive year, Consumer Reports magazine rated Abt Electronics in Glenview as the best place to shop for major appliances.
Abt scored well on price, selection and all-around experience, according to Consumer Reports, which surveyed more than 18,000 subscribers across the country.
Abt, which only has one store but also maintains a webstore on Amazon.com, beat out national chains such a Home Depot, Lowe's, Best Buy and Sears.
In the all-important price category, only Abt and HHGregg got the nod from survey respondents with better-than-middling ratings, Consumer Reports said.
Abt is about to finish a 5,000-square-foot expansion of its Glenview store to sell mattresses and other bedding products. The retailer also will begin selling home-security products and services later this month.
