In the interest of full disclosure I have to point out that my previous microwave was almost 20 years old. Anything would have been an improvement but I love this Panasonic!! It far exceeds my expectations. It cooks super fast and evenly. The sensor is amazing, it just cooks the food for the right amount of time, no more guessing on my part.[...] I'll definitely be a return customer, thanks!

All-around excellent microwave. Sensor reheat works very well with the Japanese curries and Chinese dishes that I cook. You have to turn down the power when heating liquids, though, or else it will bring it to a boil.

Cons: Noisy, but noise is a fact of life for microwaves. I wish the light would come on when you open the door. It only turns on when the unit is cooking.

I had my other Panasonic Genius for over 21 years, so I decided to get another one. It is smaller but more powerful & seems to fit my needs. My only complaint is that the light does not come on when the door is opened...only when cooking.

As an electrical engineer, I can appreciate the significance of inverter technology used in this product. Unlike conventional microwaves that cycle power off and on during a cook cycle to get a reduced power level, say 50% as an example, this product stays on during the entire cycle at the 50% level. This means that the food is heated at the same rate during the entire cycle, eliminating the cold and hot spots that occur with the convential microwave. It would seem to be more energy efficient and should be easier on the microwave. The only downside to the product is that it is difficult to distinguish the lit diplay elements from the unlit elements when you are up close to the unit. I need to tilt my head to see the setting up close. From a distance the display is easy to read.

This second modle of panasonic microwave we owned the first lasted 7 years so i think this would be reliable. they changed the modle number but check for inverter 1300 watts. it realy is a powerful microwave all functions work great and the defrost works great and we use it a lot.
recomended. some reviewers had problems with their units but i have not had any problem with mine.

Only negative thing I experienced with it so far is the sensor. I put something in there on sensor, and it didn't sense that the thing was boiling hot, and didn't stop!
I read someone's review that there's no light bulb in there. That's not true. The popcorn function works very well. I've only had the thing a few weeks, so my review is pretty premature, so take it how you will.

Everything about this microwave is great except that the light does not come on when the door is opened. Not a big inconvenience, except when it is dark in the kitchen. Defrost is so fast that you have to really watch how hot things can get. I've looked at everything and this is without a doubt the best microwave in this price range.
