Comments about Denon Denon 7.1 Dolby Digital Surround EX A/V Receiver - Black Finish:

The receiver is a little harder to set up than some others I've set up recently, but you shouldn't have too much trouble if you're handy with electronics. The auto-setup feature is a plus if you're not into setting your own speaker levels. The receiver and the remote look good, but the remote is confusing and lacks learning functions, making it mostly useless for anything other than the basics. I wouldn't recommend trying to use it as your primary system remote. Where the receiver pays off is audio performance with movie soundtracks. It provides noticably clearer and more dynamic sound than the modern surround receiver it replaced. I couldn't be happier with the audio performance, and that's what matters most to me.

Comments about Denon Denon 7.1 Dolby Digital Surround EX A/V Receiver - Black Finish:

I have this receiver powering KEF 3005 speakers and it is fantastic. Denon has some of the best surround processing available to the average consumer and this player is no exception. For less than $500, this receiver is an excellent choice for those looking to build a semi-affordable component system.

I am also running a Denon 3805 in my main room and although the 1707 has less features and less power, it is more than adequate.
