Comments about KitchenAid KitchenAid Batch Feed Garbage Disposal:

Great unit, except for one problem. Since it's a batch unit once we have the water on, you can't tell if it is running because it is so quiet. Hopefully turning the water on after it starts is OK.

Comments about KitchenAid KitchenAid Batch Feed Garbage Disposal:

Recommended where existing drain cannot be moved downward as many batch units won't drain unless outlet is lower than normal. Magnetic switch easily accessible from outside unit.

This is a really quiet disposal. I like that the magnet piece is all plastic and flips to stop water from draining. I have had several Kitchen Aid disposals but this new one is by far the best!

We bought a new home - removed the "builder" grade disposal and installed the Kitchenaid - we had this model in our previous home and "couldn't live without it". We have young grandchildren and the ability to only turn this disposal on when the cover over the disposal is used is absolutely the best safety feature! No silverware falls in and most importantly, no one gets injured with this disposal.

I had a batch feed before that went on immediately when you turned it. With this one there is a very slight delay. It is not an issue but took a little getting used to.

Service & Delivery comments:

The product arrived quickly and in good condition. The installation instructions were fairly straight forward. My husband was able to install in about 1 hour.

Comments about KitchenAid KitchenAid Batch Feed Garbage Disposal:

Very very quiet -- and quick at grinding anything. I like batch-feed for its safety, despite the extra cost. Very child-proof compared to continuouse feed. Prior batch-feed units stocked in local appliance stores only lasted a few years before failing, and were not quiet and not powerful. This one sets a much higher bar -- and I trust should last longer, with its better switch system.
The stopper, which turns it on, was a bit tight to insert and remove at first, but quickly wore in after a few uses and is fine now. The extra force it took at first, to snap in place or pull out, was frustrating to my wife, and is the only reason I didn't give it five stars.
A bonus is that this unit is not as deep as the cheaper ones, thus freeing up space beneath the sink for storage. And it came with an extension tube to make installation fit the old plumbing even though its height is different.

Amazingly fast delivery -- with free shipping.

Comments about KitchenAid KitchenAid Batch Feed Garbage Disposal:

I have two garbage disposals in my kitchen. The older one is the comparable model to the new one. The new one is much quieter and the plug is easier to use. The capacity of the new one is smaller than that of the old one but this has not presented a problem.

Comments about KitchenAid KitchenAid Batch Feed Garbage Disposal:

Our old disposal was a 20 year old (approx) similar Kitchenaid batch mode model. It worked well and there is no switch on the wall so we had to replace it with another batch mode mode with a magnetic switch in the stopper. The new one is:- Powerful and very quiet; I can barely hear it running over the sound of the water from the faucet.-Installation was easy in my sink. The instructions indicate that you need to order a special part if you have an exceptionally thick sink where the drain is.- Batch mode style (switch is in the stopper) is very safe and convenient. You can't drop anything in it while it is running and you don't touch a switch on the wall with your wet hands to turn it on.- The stopper design is clever, put it in one way and it plugs the sink. Flip it over and it allows water in and turns on the disposal when you rotate it. But the stopper side had a cavity which fills up with water and if you pull it out quickly you may splash the water on yourself. The switch side has slots for the water to pass through which get clogged up by food debris and are noteasy to rinse out. But it does look like a better design than the old magnetic one that was was nicer to use but rusted out after about 5 years and was $60 to replace.- The cavity is small; about 2/3 the size of the older model so each batch that you grind must not be too big. - The casing is a snapped on plastic cover; [...]The base of the unit is very thin sheet metal so the romex clamp for the cord threads skipped over the sheet metal when I tightened it down.Overall it is very nice to use, and it should be for the price of this high end unit, and Abt's price was the best I could find anywhere.I was a bit dissapointed in Kitchenaid's stopper design and while the interior workings and motor work well and seem well built, I expected a tougher enclosure for a unit at this price.

Disappointed

Comments about KitchenAid KitchenAid Batch Feed Garbage Disposal:

This was the 3rd Kitchen Aid batch feed disposer we've owned, but the most disappointing. While easy to install, the new latch employs a magnetic on/off switch. The handle traps food, which must be removed regularly, a nuisance, and is difficult to insert and remove. Not good engineering. The rubber splash guard prevents food from dropping into the bin, so we removed it. Grinding is good and reasonably quiet.

While I ordered this product, ABT sent my the regular continual feed. I alerted them to the problem, they took care of it, and sent me the batch feed right away, and for the same price, even though the batch feed was a little more expensive.
It really does chew up apple cores, peach pits, banana peels with ease. Very nice and safe with the batch feed feature.

Comments about KitchenAid KitchenAid Batch Feed Garbage Disposal:

We had the previous KitchenAid batch feed model (KBDS250) for over ten years and loved it. In fact I was a little worried that this model has a little smaller chamber. This one is head and shoulders better than the older model. It is a snap to install and it is so quiet that with the water running you can't even tell that it's on. I also like the magnet switch. I expect this unit to last forever.

Service & Delivery comments:

The order was delivered very promply in perfect condition.
