When the buttons on my old phone stopped working reliably I had a good excuse to get a new phone that's expandable. This unit is very functional, attractive, the base doesn't take up much space and it basically has all the features I need on a day-to-day basis without a lot of frills. What bugs me is that the keys are not backlit - tough to dial at night in a dark bedroom. Plus the ringtone selection is pretty pitiful - a few more "traditional" rings and then 4 anemic sounding classical tunes that sound like they're played on an accordion. The only problem I have with this handset, or probably most remote handsets is that you cant just pick up two phones at once and be on the same line. You have to pick one up and then transfer the call to the other phone in order for two people to use both phones to talk to caller.
