These are the best marine speakers available at the moment. I have these in the cockpit and the 6 1/2 JL's in the bow, both driven by a JL Slash 300/4 amplifier. They sound good without the amp, but absolutely stunning with the amp. In the marine environment, the key is not just loud to overcome ambient noise, but loud without distortion, and these speakers deliver. I don't feel the need for a sub with these as the 7" woofer delivers plenty of bass. These speakers are crisp and true at high output levels so you can crank the AC/DC when cruising the lake at 50 mph! Well worth the money.
