Comments about JVC JVC RVNB1:

I love this thing, and have very few complaints. I love the included carrying strap, and the handles make for real easy one-handed carrying, if you've got some upper boy strength. I say that, because it's very heavy, even without the ten D-cell batteries required to run it without the AC power cord. Also, there is no place to store the cord if you're traveling with it, and its good to take it unless you won't be running it on the batteries very loudly for very long. I'd say the batteries last about 2 hours if its used at a pretty high volume level. The included remote is awesome, and has a great reach with new batteries, and includes just about every function I could need. The sound is great, and almost awesome. Depending on the type of music, I sometimes wish for some more treble, but most of the time, I'm completely satisfied with the sound quality, and then some. A cool item that can be purchased separately is the DC power adapter that fits a standard automotive cigar lighter socket. Makes for awesome tailgating. The display used to light up when powered on when I bought mine in 1999, but the light has since burned out. Not a big deal, but was a nice feature. It's still the best portable I've ever heard, but the only thing I'd like to see changed is a more robust CD and cassette door closure mechanism. They haven't broken yet, but seem somewhat easy to break.Features I like:Auxiliary inputMultiple EQ settingsSeparate woofer controlConcise display unitWell-packaged, if a bit bulkySounds [...] great. In summary, well worth the money. Best-sounding portable you can buy for the money. If you're not the type to throw it in the back of your truck and forget about it until the next jobsite, you'll be alright. It's very tough-looking, but it's not "commercial-grade," like the DeWalt unit.
