We purchased this DVD player prior to a three-week vacation to Brasil with our 2 year-old son. It has excellent picture and sound, and kept him occupied when needed. We love the swivel feature, which allowed us to "hide" the controls, and the "hold" feature was also helpful to keep the movie rolling when little sneaky hands were able to find the control buttons. Folding the player flat came in handy at times when we did not have a lot of space to work with. The battery lasts for the amount of time promised, and it charges quickly and easily. Once we found a movie our son really liked, the trip went much more smoothly. We would highly recommend this to anyone searching for this type of product.

The picture is much better than the FX810, but the open/close button has been moved to a spot where it's too easy to accidently trigger.

I had my first chance to really put this portable DVD player to the test this past week and it performed perfectly. I know that battery life is really important to people, and manufacturers seem to embellish on usable battery duration. This unit claims 6 hours... it is more like 3-4 hrs. I have not pushed it until it died. But not a real problem for domestic flights, and it does have a car charger if that is your mode. This player has a really nice picture too, seems quite high def, as far as portables go. Swivel screen is cool too for sharing, as well, it has TWO headphone jacks - a definite PLUS... no splitters.

I like to use this player when I travel instead of carrying my laptop. It would be less expensive to replace. The sound, volume, and picture is much better than some lower priced off brand products. Sony has done it again.

The screen on this thing is gorgeous! Compared to my old Panisonic, the higher resolution really shows. I also love how it swivels around and flips down. My only complaint is how big the battery is. It covers the entire bottom of the player, making it almost twice as thick. But on the plus side, it lasts a long time, and doesn't get hot. Another minor thing is I had a little trouble with the selector pad. When I tried to "click" it to select, it actually took that as a left or right click. You have to be very careful to press straight down in order to click on the current selection. Overall I'm very happy with this player, it is a quality product.

This player will play discs that computer drives and regular dvd players won't play. It also plays CD's, and, even tho the instructions say it won't, it plays DVRs. I would recommend this to everyone.

I bought these players for a transatlantic flight with the kids. They supposedly had 6 hours of battery life, but it was more like 3.5-4 hours. Had I know, I would have bought additional batteries. Also, the Open/Eject button is placed in a location that is easily pressed whenever headphones are plugged in, which is awkward. Otherwise, they are fine DVD players, though I'm still awaiting the perfect player.

Great product. Very easy to use and comes with car adapter. An additional benefit is that the DVD player can be used as an additional TV since it has a video/audio input, and can also display to a larger tv through an output cable. The swivel top also comes handy in the car to please all viewers.

Although I was tempted to spend less on a cheaper portable DVD, I'm glad I spent a little extra on this model. Control buttons are well placed and easy to use, and the overall quality is excellent - what I would expect from a Sony. I can't comment on the speaker quality because I use a good set of headphones and get great sound out of those.

I purchased this DVD player to use mainly in the car for a recent road trip with our toddler. She loved it. We used an inexpensive travel case with car straps to harness it between the front seats. The battery life was more than adequate and I had no worries since this model comes packaged with a car charger.Sound and picture are wonderful. I did my homework before buying and the 480i display and 8in. screen are perfect for entertaining in the backseat. The picture quality is adjustable using the handy navigation button while watching your movie. The sound is clear and loud. I have yet to turn it any higher than halfway with headphones or without. After returning from our trip, I realized that watching a movie while on the treadmill or bike makes the workout fly by. The swivel feature of this unit allows it to fit snugly into a magazine rack. It is a touch bulky front to back, but that really doesn't bother me. Also, it is nice to see all of the included accessories. Remote control is small and lightweight, but works well. Most of the controls, however, can be accessed from the buttons and control stick located just under the display screen. Also included is a home charger, AV cables, and a battery for the remote. Unit also has two headphone jacks built in, which should come in handy if entertaining multiple children at once.Also, found the AV cables to be quite handy to allow unit to function as dvd player for tv in our resort room on recent trip. Just plugged it in and watched on the 40in. LCD samsung that was in our living room. Made for some nice winding down time with Nemo at the end of a long day at the beach and boardwalk.The price is higher than other models at this size, but sony quality is evident in the construction, features, and function. I would definitely recommend this product, especially if you can get it at a great price[...]like I did at abt.com.

I bought this for my 4-year old. He quickly and easily figured out how to operate it. It has very good picture and sound quality. I had read other reviews about the sound quality, so I bought headphones for it as well. I haven't noticed any problems with the sound, but it's nice to have the headphones in the car, so I can listen to the radio and not the DVD player. The swivel screen is an added benefit. I like that it has a hold button, thereby eliminating pressing the buttons on the unit accidentally. That's important when a 4-year old doesn't care where he happens to grab it. He turned it off by accident many times before I realized it had the hold button.

This is a great product. I purchased it after reading other reviews...and I am very pleased w/ the end result. The picture clarity is fantastic. Battery life is also very good. My only complaint is that I wish it weighed a bit less, as it is on the heavy side when you are traveling for an extended period of time.

It is a basic portable DVD player. I was a little disappointed by the image quality, it was worse than my PSP. It's suitable for my 3 year child however (which was why we bought it). The build is solid and the remote and swiveling are nice little features. The next player I get would have to be able to play movie files (avi,mp4, divx etc...)
