I like Sony portable radios. This one is a bit large - about three pounds - it is more of a desk top radio. It's not digital, so the reception where I live (60 miles from a city) isn't consistent; it fades in and out. But it's a low-cost radio that I keep plugged in without batteries in the bathroom. It's ok, but not small enough to carry around.

This radio does everything as advertised. It receives TV sound from channels 2 througy 13 as well as NOAA weather which is between TV channels 6 and 7. The FM signal could be stronger; there is no provision for an external antenna. The AM band, however, is very crowded expecially in the evening. The unit seems to be well built and the controls work smoothly.[*]

Quality radio for an excellent price. Reception of low-power AM stations is good. Reception of FM stations is excellent as is the NOAA weather broadcasts. This is one of the few radios I have ever found that actually picks up the sound to all of the local TV stations. This is an all-around at home radio and essential to take along on any trip to pick up weather and entertainment.
This unit was well designed and is well constructed.

My husband uses a radio daily. He turns it on first thing while getting ready in the a.m. and uses it in his ofc and workshop.
He likes it very much. The weather channel is great too. Never thought much about using one, but he is glad to have it.

This radio is excellent in the home and outdoors.
The reception is excellent and you can pick up some TV stations. I really didn't recognize any down side for this product.
It cannot, however, be used in a factory environment where there is a lot of metal.
The radio arrived exactly on time as ABT stated in excellent condition. I needed to return it because I couldn't use it in a factory environment.
I will definitely use ABT again and in fact have already ordered another product as a gift for someone.

I bought one when Katrina and Rita were on headed toward us. We didn't need it that time, but I realized I also needed one at our beach house on the Gulf Coast in order to be fully prepared. It has the weather station as well as ability to pick up audio from TV stations.

I bought this radio for the weather radio. My Mom (Mary) says it works great. They live in South Mississippi and went through Katrina without a weather radio. I wanted them to have something to check on tornado warnings, hurricane info. and other weather issues....Also wanted something that could run on batteries since they were without power for weeks after Katrina.

This replaced our 12 yr. ols sony portable which was much abused over the years and still worked until my husband broke off the ariel in an attemt to straighten it. The only minus is the sliding on off switch instead of a push button switch.

I think it's an all around great radio, but I do not recommend buying it for the weatherband. It did not seem to get as good of reception for the weatherband as other weatherband radios that I have owned.

My older version, different manufacturer, was lighter and smaller. It was my preferred size but this Sony unit slightly larger and heavier,gets much better reception and separation of competing frequencies. I like that!

This is a well built, great sounding radio. It tunes very well and stays on station once it locks on. The thing I noticed was its weight. It has a not too heavy, solid feel to it. I'm an old electronics technician and quality components simply weigh more. I don't think you'll find a better radio in the same class.
