I bought this changer to complement a single-disc player that I use heavily for previewing homemade DVD's, often examining them frame-by-frame. The changer doesn't have the advanced previewing capabilities of the other unit, but at least it lets me leave my current video-in-progress alone when I want to switch to viewing regular movies, so I'm not constantly swapping discs.

This is a great DVD player. The upconversion looks great as well as the standard definition. Setup is very straightforward and easy to use. It has HDMI, component, optical, coaxial and RCA outputs. Similar to any upconverting DVD player, you must use HDMI to use the upconversion. It upconverts to 1080i which may steer some buyers away but I think the differences between 1080i and 1080p are negligible. Look for quality products over the numbers. Not sure where to start, there are so many reasons that this unit is awesome. 1. It is priced to fit within nearly any budget!2. In silver finish, it truely looks awesome!3. Holds up to 6 DVD's or 6 CD's or mix & match!4. Has all component hook up as well as HDMI!5. Comes with a Digital coaxial cable to link this unit's operations to my Onkyo receiver's remote to serve as a universal remote!6. Has the ability to up-convert to 1080i for a phenomenal picture!7. It has great styling, easy to use features, and great pictures and sound, We use it as a cd as well as a dvd player. The carousel which holds 6 is perfect for music, 6 movies becomes a all day affair! The only down side is that it takes a little longer than my former units to load, or change discs, at first I had issues with it freezing at the 3rd disc, but that seems to have resolved itself. Overall We are happy with this unit.

I shopped hard and wide for this DVD changer to use as a music player for my mp3/wma dvd rips. One can put a lot of compressed cd music on 5 dvds leaving the six hole for video. I even called Onkyo's help desk which was pretty easy to get to, to verify that it would play WMA's after version 8 which was indicated by the owners manual pda I previously downloaded. (I told you I shop hard!)They lied saying the manual, which had indicated only WMA-version 7.1 an 8 could be played, was incorrect, "it would play version 8 and above". I also don't like the unintuitive placement of the remote's play and fast forward and reverse buttons. And the screen setup goes bazerko if you don't continuously hold down the resolution key although the manual says to press it repeatly. I just happen to hold it down for several seconds by accident.

I like the blue light it shines on the disk to read the disk numbers. Why these dipweed hardware layout designers think black electronic faces are grand is beyond me. I have to have flashlights all over my entertainment equipment to see what I'm doing. I guess the designers stay at home listening to their favorites surrounded with a friggen flourescent tube-light array. Glad the silver is coming back. HY-OH Silver
