Comments about Pioneer Pioneer Elite BonusView Black Blu-ray Player:
This is my first Blu-Ray player as I wanted to wait until the BD specs had started to mature and settle down. This player is not 2.0 ready but I don't care about that feature anyway. My first impressions were that is was very slow to boot to a disc menu but once there, the picture quality was stunning. From online enthusiast forums I learned there was a firmware update available from Pioneer that made a big difference to the boot time but why didn't Pioneer tell me that? Once I updated it, it was much better. There is still another firware update due sometime for true DTS HD MasterAudio encoding so this player was released a little ahead of its time which, given its "Elite" status and price-point is surprising. Standard DVD's upscale very well but due to its slow speed, I play them in my other DVD player and let the Faroudja scalar in my Pioneer Elite SC-05 a/v receiver handle the upconvert.

I would recommend this product to anyone with a high end theater setup. It looks good for one and it preforms very well. Have not had any problems. The load times are great.
