When it comes to video, i couldn't trust no other brand but sony. Im an constant movie viewer and u could imagine how I put my equipments to work whenever is possible. 2-4 movies/day. This player BDPS350 is in my possesion not bec. I did intend to buy it. Designwise, it's the slimmest from Sony and it's critical to my already, current and crowded set-up. The only problem i had with this player is some of my recorded dvd discs from a double layered VERBATIM, which i have no problem playing from my twin TRUTECH $35 dvd player bought from target....I still recommend this product but don't dispose ur old player into thinking this player will play it all, cause that's not the case.

I got rid of my Toshiba HD player because it took so long to load and play. The Sony is great ! It loads faster, the picture quality is excellent, and the sound is phenomenal !

Blu-ray on a 1080p display just doesn't get any better! This player displays each pixel faithfully for a great hi-def experience. Updating the firmware is simple, and I'm looking forward to BD-Live once I find a movie that has it. I couldn't ask for more, especially at an ABT price!

this was a perfect addition to my home theater set-up. the picture and sound quality is just amazing. all of the horror stories i had heard about as far as slow load times of bluray players, that is certainly not the case with this player.

I love this player! It doesn't have all the features you can get from a player, but it has all I will ever use and it is upgradeable with the built in ethernet port. The picture quality is on par with the PS3 and the sound is even better. The sound is amazing!!! This is the best value you can find in a Blu Ray player. You have the quality of Sony and the features most people will use.

Setup was easy. Downloading the network updates was no problem at all. The interface is easy to use and the picture quality is great. My only complaint is that I could not get BD-Live to work with Transformers (yes, the player is up to date). Not sure if it was my fault or something with the player. Highly recommended for the casual usual. Home theater buffs might be looking for something a bit more powerful.

surprised that the unit does have play back memory which seems standard on any dvd player anymore. minor annoyance that will hopefully be addressed with a firmware update. thats all that kept me from giving it five stars. the 2.0 profile items are useless to me.

The picture quality is great and the interface is easy to use. A bonus is that when I turn the DVD play on, my Sony TV automatically switches to the "DVD" label input.

The one annoyance is that the DVD player needs external memory (a USB thumb drive) to view additional content like BonusView and to update the firmware. It's *not* included in the box. The port is recessed, so most USB drives are too wide and won't fit. You need to either order the Sony USB drive (model #USM1GH) or do what I did and remove the casing from whatever USB drive you have lying around.

I did an extensive research for a BD player past several months. Many different BD players out there but this one stands out as a winner for people who wants a decent BD player within their budget range of $300-400. Picture quality is superb. Even when I put in a DVD, the picture quality is far superior to my regular DVD with progressive mode. It plays the movies that I burn them on the DVD+R without any problems. It takes about 10-15 sec to load a BD; can’t complain because all BD players do that way, this one is not an exception.Sony makes this BD player so light compared to the DVD players. It is smaller than it previous model S300. It plays BD quietly that I don’t even notice whether it is running. It is a big plus for this BD player when comparing to the noise from the PS3 station. Well, I own a PS3 station too and I cannot stand the noise from PS3 when it runs a BD.Plastic case in front is soft; so it is not scratch-resistant. I have got 2 scratches already in 2 weeks. I cannot believe that Sony makes BD players with a cheap material. I own many Sony products for many years (2 Sony HDTV’s, 3 Sony DVD players, 2 Sony VHS recorders, a PS3 station, a Sony receiver, and various Sony speakers), none of them have a soft skin like this BD player. Leave it alone, and operate from the remote control, then no worry about scratch.Well, with $350 for this Sony BD player, it gives me a superb quality picture and sounds. It plays quietly that gives me a peace of mind when I watch a movie. It runs every type of DVD+/-R that I have in the house, I am happy with the product.

I couldn't believe how fast it came after I ordered it! Talk about service! It took about 5 min. to setup and we were watching our first BluRay movie. It has very easy to use interface and you can get to anything on the DVD you want easily.

This is my second Blu-ray player and it blows the first one out of the water. The load time is the biggest differnce. This one loads almost as fast as a regular DVD player. The upconversion for regular DVD's is awesome and you can't beat 1080/24p picture on Blu-ray. I can't wait until the BD-Live update is available, that will make this unit all the more exciting. The only draw back is that it doesn't decode DTS Master HD and it doesn't have any internal memory.

IMAGE IS GREAT AND OLD DVDS LOOK BETTER TOO. LOAD TIMES DEPEND ON MOVIE BUT ARE FINE-VERY FAST COMPARED TO BDPS 300. SOUNDS AWESOME AND A PLUS IS I CAN USE MY HARMONY REMOTE WITH IT WHEREAS YOU COULD NOT WITH THE COMPARABLE PLAY STATION.
