We only have this unit about 3 weeks but I paired this up with a Sony KDL55NX810 3D TV and the picture quality is great. We have not used any 3D programs or DVD's yet but I saw them in the store and the picture quality was very good. We are happy with this system.

Performs very well. Great picture quality and nice features. I don't have a 3D TV so I couldn't test 3D playback. I bought this model hoping it would be more "premium" feeling than the BDP-S580 but it's just as cheap-feeling overall. Internet services -particularly Netflix and Pandora - are awful compared to Roku and Samsung. Sony really needs to step these up. I seriously contemplated returning this player when I first saw the Netflix interface, but since I have a Roku I will use that for net services and only use this player for discs.
