Sony should have made the tv and dvd imputs number 1 and number 2.You have to scroll down the imput mode to number 6 or 7 to get the tv or dvd picture. Dont know why they made the hdmi inputs for the tv and dvd at those high numbers

The set up was a breeze. The picture quality is truly unbelievable. I researched for about a month before choosing the Sony and I'm very happy with my choice. The tv controls on the tv should be on the side and not on top, this is my only complaint. The sound is very true to the ear.

Exceptional in almost all areas. The only hit against this set, which you will find if you read reviews elsewhere on the Web, is its tedious switching between input sources. It takes 8 sources and you must cycle through them (very slowly) to arrive at the one you want. But all other factors easily make up for this one annoyance.

You will not be able to fully decide wheather you like the tv or not unless you have the correct HDMI connections, and if you want to connect the tv to a home theater system then u need to buy the correct OPTICAL audio connections. [$]. The picture is awesome although I've only had it for a few hours. For the price, its excellent and it outshines just about any other display I've see. I took a 50" LG back to the store and this one beats it buy far. You can't go wrong with the Sony picture. I have it teamed up with a Samsung 800 watt HD surround sound upconverting DVD player and I am in heaven!

This is a fantastic TV.

My only two negative points are purley personal.
1. I was slightly annoyed that the HDMI inputs are video 7 and 8 out of 8 total. SOny should have given some love to how this TV is meant to be viewed. HDMI on video 1 and 2 would have been the way to go.
2. The remote is pretty simple, by design. Perhaps even too simple. Some functions are now three and four levels deep within on-screen menus rather than the older method of simple one button clicks on a slightly larger and more button oriented remotes.

Both issues are nothing that limits the television or the viewing experience. Just personal things.

Still, for the price/value of this Full HD TV it is well worth it. The sound is good enough, but I can't comment much. Shortly after connecting mine I turned off the onboard speaker and now run the sound out from the TV to my receiver.

Not enough can be said about the picture on this TV though. It is truly magnificent. Lifelike. In fact I turned mine down off of the default 'vivid' color settings, because the colors were a little too bright. There is almost no glare on this screen. Not to mention that the contrast ratio and lighting sensor provide great viewing at all times, even during mid afternoon. The picture also still looks great from some pretty wide angles.

I cannot say enough about how happy I am with this television. There are so many different inputs and outputs, that it really gives you some flexibility in terms of set up.

Some online reviews almost scared me off in regards to some reported "ghosting" or "cloudiness" on the screen. I witnessed NONE OF THIS in the three display models that I researched nor have I seen it on mine. Buy with confidence.

I usually do my research before buying tv, always looking for the best bang for a buck, and i finally found it , after going through so many tv's. nothing can compare to the picture and sound quality that sony gives you, and even though it cost more, you are getting your moneys worth.

I purchased this television several days ago and have been extremely impressed with its quality. The television is so simple to set up, that the stand is attached. You simply pull it out of the box and place it on the table. Its that simple! I'm not sure, but if you want to wall mount it you should check to ensure that the table stand can be detached (as im not sure.

I looked around for a good priced HD LCD and went to my local costco and got a 37 inch Vizio for $799.99. With-in days I took it back, good price but just ok picture. So the moral of this story is you get what you pay for and I should have gone with has always work for me the one and only "SONY". I love my new LCD, best quality all-around. Don't be fooled by the price do your homework and you will also see this LCD is great. Enjoy

It took me less than ten minutes to set up this TV and I've loved it ever since. I also own a Sony 400 disk dvd/cd changer and have hooked it up with an HDMI cable. I watched Predator last night and it was as if I was seeing it again for the first time. The colors were incredible! Also regular television signals look outstanding (I am moving from a 19" tube tv), but I can't wait for comcast to come next week and hook up my HDTV antenna so I can see it's full potential. Great Buy!!

My son told me that my expensive big screen analog TV's would soon not get reception in two years. I sadly gave away TV's valued at 13K and weighing almost 300 lbs each. I quickly bought a Sony 46" Bravia 1080p LCD. I have a rotary entenna that reaches 600 miles out, so I was able to get HDTV. My son saw the sharp picture and immediately bought the Sony 40" Bravia 1080p TV. He has Direct TV and pays $10 more each month to get HDTV. When he saw all the channels I got with my Wineguard Entenna, he ran out and bought a splitter for my entenna so he could get all those channels. My Grandson started playing computer games and having guests. This left me without a TV. After Christmas, I was looking on the web and saw the 40" [...]. All three Sony TV's are great. I liked the fact that they do not weigh much and can easily be lifted. I no longer miss my two 35" Misubitchi consoles, my Sony 60" rear projection console, or the 48" Mitsubitchi front projection TV . I will never go back to heavy TV's again.

Superior picture with all resolutions and even analog signal so long as you split the cable signal and bypass the cable box by going straight to the TV antenna input and using this input for the basic analog channels. Using with the Sony NS75H upconverting DVD player makes for a terrific DVD picture (use HDMI cable). I personally do not understand why people stretch anything. However, this TV gives you all the options based on input signal type.

So far, the unit has performed flawlessly. It's a lot lighter than it looks (both mass and visibility), and the collection of possible inputs is quite rich for a consumer device. Sound is excellent.
